Re: Finally solved my 12 twist stabilization problem!

I had similar problems with my 700 in 204 shooting 39gr Blitz Kings. I was using 8208 XBR which worked well with 40gr Vmaxs but I could not get good groups with the BKs. I just got some Reloder 10X and was going to work up my own ladder for the Sierras. You saved me some work. Thanks. You theory of ...

Re: .204 rifle advice

I have a Rem 700 SPS in 204 Ruger and I love it. Relatively light, very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot.

Re: Finally a great load for the .204

You just saved me some work Bob. I picked up some 10X last night and have been having difficulty finding any load data for 40gr bullets. I even tried calling Hornady and they didn't have anything for 10X and 40gr Vmax. They suggested I use load data for 39gr BK's and knock the max down half a grain.

Re: Question regarding free bore

I have a R700 SPS and my most accurate loads have been with an OAL of 2.313".

Re: I think I found a load my rifle likes

Joe, I tried some at 27.0 and results were terrible. I almost needed a yardstick to measure the group. I think this is the best I'm going to get with the 8208XBR and the 40 gr Vmax. I think I'll get some Reloader 10X or Hodgdon 4895 and see what I can do with 39 gr Blitz Kings. I could not them to g...

Re: stuck cases ...wth

I never had a problem until I cleaned my die and lubed it with Hornady One Shot. About five case in I got one stuck.

I think I found a load my rifle likes

It's taken a while but I think a finally found a load my rifle likes. 40gr Vmax, once fired Hornady brass, Remington 7 1/2 primers, 26.2 gr IMR 8208XBR with an OAL of 2.313. Of the five shot group I had one flyer, no doubt due to the unreliable nut behind the trigger. http://i1233.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Finding loads

I really chuckle when somebody says "it's too loud".......then maybe they'd better find another hobby besides rifles........I hear stamp collecting is purty quiet. My son told me the next time someone at the gun club I belong to makes a crack about my gun being loud I should say so...

Re: Nosler 40 grain balistic tip

I had the opposite problem. My gun wont shoot the 39 gr BKs worth spit but I get nice tight groups with the 40 gr Vmax. I was advised to try a different powder.

Re: Finding loads

I agree with the above posters. The only people who rag on the 204 Ruger have never shot one. All the people I know who have shot one love it. The "it's too loud" comment made me chuckle. I've had several people come up to me at the range and ask what I was shooting and mentioning the loud...

Re: weighing bullets

Thanks for the feedback guys. Most other forums I belong to treat newbies like they have the plague, but I have never failed to get excellent information here, no matter how lame my question might be. Thanks again.

weighing bullets

I am a relative newb to reloading and I was wondering how many of you weigh your bullets. My gun (Rem 700SPS) prefers 40gr Vmax and I found their weights vary from 39.9 to 40.1gr. I segregated them into groups for loading. Being such a light bullet I assume a variance of .2gr could affect the accura...

Re: 40gr V-Max and H-4895

Hedge, nice shooting. I'm also working up some loads using 8208 XBR and 40gr Vmax. What is your COAL?
