Re: need help
I have a 700 SPS. I love the rifle but the stock is crap. I free floated the barrel but the fore part of the stock is so flexible that when I set the rifle on a rest it pushes it back up into the barrel. My sons are planning on getting me a new stock for Christmas, although I did irritate my younges...

Re: Projectile weight consistency
I've used 39 gr BlitzKings, 40 gr Vmax, and 40 gr Berger BTHP and all have had weight variances of up to .4 grains from the low to the high.

Re: cracked case mouths
Bow shot, it was Beikirch's all right. Best prices anywhere and if they don't have it you probably don't need it.

Re: cracked case mouths
I just picked up a bag of Win brass at my local gun shop on my lunch hour for $5 cheaper than Midway is selling it for. I hope it holds up better than the Hornady.

Re: cracked case mouths
Keith, I'm using a RCBS full length die backed off one full turn to just size the neck. You and Rick are not the only people who don't think much of Hornady brass on this forum. I think I'll give them one more run through and then get Winchester or Remington brass. I do not want a Hornady round blow...

cracked case mouths
Upon checking twice fired brass prior to case prep I came across a couple with very fine cracks up at the case mouth that go all the way through the brass. The cracks are so fine unless you hold the case up to a light you can't see them. I'm using Hornady brass from factory loaded ammo. Is this comm...

Re: Reloader 10 and 15
My most accurate load using 10X and 39 gr BlitzKings is 24.4 grains. I don't know what the velocity is. My sole concern is accuracy.
My average 5 shot group is around .400. My COAL is usually 2.313, although 2.306 shows some promise.

Re: .223 in a .204...???
Just to be safe I'd get rid of the .223 barrel. I may be a bit of a fanatic in my love for the .204 but in my humble opinion there is nothing you can do with a .223 that a .204 wont do better, so why have both. Sell the .223 barrel and get a .243 or a 6.5 Creedmoor.

Re: Case prep and Cartridge OAL
1) Right now I'm using a full length sizing die, but I am going to get a neck sizing die next time I order from Midway. 2) My rifle (Remington 700 SPS) seems to like a COAL of 2.313", although 2.306" shows some promise. From what I've heard most 204s have a very long free bore and even get...

Re: Kids did some shooting...
You gotta love shooting with the kids. One of my sons has a cannon (Savage model 12 in 300WSM) and doesn't like to to shoot it at the gun club I belong to since the rifle range is only 100 yards long, but my youngest son and I take my 204 over there about once a week for an hour or two. Occasionally...

Re: Anyone loading 30gn Bergers?
I've heard a lot of good things about Benchmark. I'll have to give some a try after I get my loads down for RE 10X and 8208XBR. Load testing is the part of reloading I enjoy the most.

Re: Anyone loading 30gn Bergers?
I think they have 35s and 50s left in the Bergers. They will still be stocking Sierra and Hornady. What powder do you use for the 40s? I'm in the process of working up loads for them using RE 10X and 8208XBR.

Re: Anyone loading 30gn Bergers?
I was at Biekirch's last week looking for 40 gr BTHP and they are no longer going to carry Bergers. I had to order a box from Midway.
