Case trimmer
I want to get a case trimmer and would like some recommendations. Which ones do a good job at a reasonable price? Thanks in advance.

Re: Savage ?
My son has a Savage model 12 in 300WSM. As Neil said, they are not especially pretty rifles but my son's is very accurate. If your getting a good deal I'd go for it.

Re: remington and 40 grain bullets
My 700 SPS shoots them both very well, the 40 gr Vmaxs slightly better. It shot the 40 Bergers very poorly.

Re: different pwder
I thought that wasn't going to be out until February. Please keep us posted on your results. I'm very interested in seeing what this powder's performance is.Vartarg wrote:+1 on what Tokimini said!
Also, I just bought some CFE223 and hope to have good results with it for my .204's, along with the .17 Remington.

Re: different pwder
I've had good luck using 8208XBR with 39 gr SBKs.

Re: IMR 8208
My best load for 39 gr SBKs and 8208XBR is 26.2 gr using Remington 7 1/2 primers, Win brass and a COAL of 2.306". The best 5 shot group I got was .264". I believe the max load recommended is 27.3 gr. I got slightly better groups with 40 gr Vmax.

Re: Whats ur setup!
Here is a pic of my reloading bench. My son and I built it out of 4x4s and 2x6s with rabbited joints so it's solid as a rock.

Re: Where do you guys buy your supplies?
Beikirch Ammunition. They have better prices than Midway on powder, bullets and brass. For the rare items they don't carry I use Midway.

Re: Crimping
Thanks Rick. I'll check the case neck ID. I don't know what my barrel length is off hand, but my gun is a standard Remington 700 SPS.

Crimping
I was at a range a couple of weeks ago and a guy shooting next to me (who sounded very knowledgable) said he noticed a sizable fireball at the muzzle when I shot and it could be adversely affecting my accuracy because my powder was not burning completely in the barrel. I don't load over max and use ...

Re: Load question.
My most accurate load using 39 gr BKs and Reloder 10X gives me groups just over .25" at 100 yards. (.264") Here's what I use.
Hornady or Winchester brass
39 gr BKs
Remington 7 1/2 primers
24.4 grains R10X
COAL 2.306"

Re: Temp sensitivity in powder?
Anyone have any load data for 40gn vmax or 32 gn vmax and 8208? I go through pretty extreme temp swings from summer pd hunting to winter 'yote hunting so little temp sensitivity would be great. 40 gr Vmax and 8208XBR is one of my favorite combinations. I've gotten sub quarter inch 100yd groups usin...

Re: Projectile weight consistency
Ramos, I weigh my bullets for basically the same reason you do, I just enjoy doing it. It may not have any measurable difference in accuracy by itself, but couple that with weighing each powder charge precisely, getting a consistant COAL, and who knows. Sometimes a few little things taken together c...
