Re: 39SBK vs 32Vmax FPS results

Broper, check out the FAQ sections of Shilen's website before you get the barrel fluted. They will not flute a barrel and will void your warrenty if you have a Shilen barrel fluted. They say it creates unrecoverable stresses in the barrel.

Re: Re-barreled my 700

Rowdy, I got the barrel from Brownell's. I don't know if the profile would be the same as what Midway sells but other than that they should be the same. I hear you about local gunsmiths - "I can have it for you in 4 months, if I don't get busy." Go for it and do it yourself. You will have ...

Re: Vihtavuori N140

Accuracy is all I'm concerned with. Higher velocity isn't much good if you can't hit what you're aming at.

Re: Vihtavuori N140

Thanks I will. I know it's a bit slow but it has a very similar burn rate to Reloder 15 and people seem to have good results with that so I thought I'd give it a try. The chart I have from the Vihtavuori reloading manual rates N140 as faster than the 4350s.

Re: Re-barreled my 700

Thanks Bow. Hopefully our friends in East Rochester will get some more 10X in one of these days and I can see if I can shrink the groups a touch more. I'll check this Friday or Saturday and IM you if they got restocked.

Vihtavuori N140

I got a couple of pounds of Vihtavuori N140 from Brownell's for my 204 but didn't see much info on it in the favorite loads thread. Has anyone used this powder for the 204 Ruger, and if you did what were your loads and how did they group.

Re: Re-barreled my 700

I got out to the range this morning and I think I found a powder the new barrel likes, good old Reloder 10X.

New forum for gunsmithing?

We have a general forum and forums for optics, reloading and hunting. I was wondering if there would be enough interest from the members for the powers that be to add a gunsmithing forum. I don't know about the rest of the country but in my area there just aren't any gunsmiths and even if there were...
