Re: Custom Barrel Makers
+ 1 for Shilen. I have one of their 9 twist barrels on my 204 and the barrel is a tack driver.

Re: brass problems
Running loaded rounds through a die sounds incredibly dangerous. Do yourself a favor and pull the bullets.Varmitzapper wrote: I don't think I want to try pushing the shoulder back with loaded rounds.
Any body ever do this?
I guess I could pull the bullets and run the cases through the FL die.

Re: Bullet damage!
Moto, I don't think there is anyone here who has not benefited from the general membership. I had been reloading for somewhere around thirty years before finding the internet and finding this site. Never had a real problem but, this is where I started to get interested in and working on PRECISION r...

Sightron vs Vortex
I'll be getting a new scope for my 204 in a few weeks, something like 6 x 24 power and have narrowed it down to s Sightron SII Big Sky or a Vortex. Anyone have any pros and cons for those scopes?

Re: Issue with CFE223
Here is a thread I started last fall on 32 gr BKs keyholing when I had the factory barrel on the rifle. I had forgotten but I was using CFE223 then also, 29.5 grains.

Re: Issue with CFE223
I have had problems with the 32 gr BKs keyholing at below max loads using R10X. I can shoot a string of sub half inch 5 shot groups then all of a sudden one will keyhole on me, and it's only the 32s. My barrel is a Shilen 9 twist. I wish I could figure out why because the 32s are all I can get at th...

Re: Which twist is better ?
I have a shilen bull barrel in the .204 1-9 twist. I wouldnt trade it for anything. It shoots from .26 g v grenades up to 50 grain bergers like a tac driver. The Shilen 204 9 twist is an awesome barrel. Mine shoots the 32gr bullets just as well as it shoots the 40s. My factory 12 twist barrel could...

Re: Factory ammo accuracy comparisons
Thanks man. I love stuff like this. I have a Shilen 9 twist in 204 on my Rem 700 and I was also quite surprised how well it shot the 32 gr Vmaxes.
For factory ammo you have some very nice groups. I was surprised the Bergers did so poorly. My barrel loves them.

I haven't used 8208 in a few years but my best load was 26.2 gr with 40 gr Vmaxs.

Re: A2230
I'am not one for jumping from one powder to another just because someone got killer groups with a different powder. That's a weakness I have. I'm a born tinkerer. I'm constantly tweaking loads and bullets trying to get the smallest groups I can. For me that keeps it fun and interesting. I get bored...

Re: A2230
Two nice things about A2230 I forgot to mention. It seems readily available, at least in my area and it's cheap, almost half the cost of Viht N140 which is my other favorite.

Re: Need a little help
Remington did a good job repairing my rifle. It shot just as accurately after the work as it did before the incident. Hopefully yours will be the same.
