Re: Favorite Loads
Thanks gentlemen for putting in your votes. I'll go ahead and remove the load from the spread sheet. FinMan's post still stands on page six, but I don't think there is anything we can do about that without a mod's assistance.

Re: Interesting info on Barrel life
"prime accuracy" is purely subjective. It absolutely depends on which shooting discipline you are involved in. We all have different accuracy windows that we need (want) to stay within. A bench rest competitor might have a 800 - 1000 round barrel life (maybe less). I shoot NRA metallic sil...

Re: Favorite Loads
Tony, Any and all loads in this thread are for suggestion only. 28.3gr of H335 with a 39grain bullet is definitely over suggested max load by Hodgdon. It was posted by "FinMan" back in 2008 (page 6 of this thread) . As I am merely the "assembler" of the spreadsheets I hold no res...

Re: suppressor increase velocity ?
This is the suppressor that was on the .300 Ultramag. It is designed for .338 cal rifles but it was VERY effective on the .300 UM. http://www.thunderbeastarms.com/products/338p-1 I want to get one. Just have to stop buying guns and bullets and save some money instead of spending it! This one would w...

Re: suppressor increase velocity ?
There was an article in the Jan-Mar 2011 Varmint Hunter magazine and his test showed that suppressors did increase the velocity of the bullets. It was also interesting to find out that suppressors will reduce the recoil of the larger caliber rifles by up to 50%. I have a customer that ordered one f...

Re: Favorite Loads
Trent, thanks for the spreadsheets. They're a great resource! However, the loads listed as H4198 need to be changed to IMR 4198. I have a pound of H4198 and called Hodgdon. The only bullet they recommend for that powder is the 26 grain Barnes. Pressure rises too fast and too high for anything heavi...

Re: Favorite Loads
The tables that graymist has generated are a great tool in aiding on our quest for accuracy and I want to thank him for his efforts and time spent periodically updating this section. The only thing that would make it better is if the list of favorite loads indicated the type of weapon used and leng...

Wow. Neat pics. I'd be afraid of losing a digit even if it is just a pup.

Check out these auto resetting varmint targets!
Pretty expensive ($389 ea... ouch!) but they would be AWESOME for some fun and games or informal competitions if you could buy ten or twelve of them. Self-healing target and rated for centerfire and rimfire. Their webpage has a couple videos. http://www.varminttarget.com/ http://www.varminttarget.co...

Re: Ruger's new 1911 is on it's way
Thanks Trent. That was exactly what I was curious about. Have you actually seen the ruger and if so what was your opinion? I shot one a month or two ago. A gentleman had just bought it that day and brought it out to "break it in". It shot very nicely and from outward appearances it seemed...
