Re: Finding loads
I'm with Rick. Generally anything negative that I have heard comes from people with no first hand experience. "oh the .204, thats a barrel burner" "oh the .204, that gets pushed around in the wind!" "oh the .204, can't kill coyotes with that" And now.. "oh the .20...

You might want to go ahead and just copy the whole post over here. Evidently you have to be a member to view threads on that site.
I am already on too many forums.

Re: weighing bullets
Possibly, but it is doubtful that it can be measured in the field. If you are shooting for score then you of course want to negate any and all variances, but a 0.2gr difference is only one-half of a percent difference on a 40 grain bullet. 00.5% isn't going to play out to much in the field. Just my ...

Re: New 35 gr 204 bullets? Anybody tried them yet?
I have received mine but haven't loaded or fired them yet. They look really nice anyways. I am in the process of making a new stock for my savage 12FV, and I am waiting to do any more load testing until it is finished as the flexy plastic stock just isn't great for bench shooting. Oh, and I am usin...

Re: WTB: Savage Target Action
This rifle will be strictly for offhand shooting. No benches for me. The left port would actually be a hindrance in this case. Has to be a right bolt and right port. This rifle will live it's live strictly in competition. I have to get the beast to come in at no more than 10lbs 2ozs including...

Re: WTB: Savage Target Action
GaCop, I was going to buy from Jim if I couldn't locate a used action. Turns out that I just won a 50% off cert from Savage so I'll be combining that with my 50% of Shilen certificate and starting my half-off custom! Haha. Now I just need to find a competition that has a half off McMillan stocks cer...

Re: I'm not selling the .22-250... but, the .204R is my new
BCB, absolutely. I love my .22-250 immensely and don't think I could bring myself to let it go. I love shooting it. It is a laserbeam and it has amazing factory wood on it. The .204r though... flat, fast, inherently accurate and kicks like a kitten. It's just pure fun. I think: - If I am headed out ...

Re: 204 Maximum Effective Range
Not trying to be cute...but if the 204 has an effective range of say...500 yards, the round is still effective regardless of the wind. Doping the wind falls to the shooter. HTH I've always considered this to be true as well. If you know your gun in the wind (as you should if you shoot in the wind) ...

Re: Leupold Target Scopes
The "other one" is most likely US Optics. :yeah: I've looked through and used the 8.5-25x. It is a very nice scope, and I wish that Leupold would move the parallax on the 6.5-20x to the side like the 8.5-25x scope. It is tough to put it in the same company as NF, USO and Huskamaw scopes. I...

I bought mine at Walmart in sporting goods but I have seen them other places. Great value for 10 bucks. I've had mine for about three years now and it still works as new. It is nice and compact and also comfortable to use.

Well that's easy! Everytime the bullets go through a squirrel... they get "squirrely".

I'm not selling the .22-250... but, the .204R is my new FAV!
Yesterday was opening day for prairie grizzlies here in Colorado so I loaded up and headed out to our biggest public land prairie, the Pawnee Grasslands. Took my R700 .22-250 "Varmint Special" and my R700 .204R SPS Varmint and about 100 rounds for each. Stuffed my backpack and walked out i...
