Re: BATF finally did something rite…
Bill K – For the most part no offence was intended and none is taken. While I can’t honestly say I apologize for stepping on Obama supporter toes, my commentary does contain tons of intended sarcasm which some might misinterpret. I’ll try to do better in the future. It is certainly NOT how I persona...

Re: BATF finally did something rite…
This ruling change may be the only thing they EVER did close to right, finally. My T/C Arms Catalog 20 (1993 copyright) announces “The U.S. Supreme Court has recently ruled that it is legal to sell and use the Contender Carbine Conversion Kit … used to legally convert the Contender Pistol to a Carbi...

BATF finally did something rite…
… for Contender and Encore lovers. Until recently, it was technically illegal to switch back and forth between handgun and rifle setups on your T/C frame. It never got challenged in court but apparently we no longer have to worry about being the test case. I’m not very familiar with the AR’s but I t...

Re: strange scale behaviour
The scales in the lab of the dyehouse I worked in were used to weigh dye in grams to four decimals. They are surrounded by glass with horizontally sliding access doors on both sides. You trickled on the last bit then closed the doors to block any draft from affecting your final call. They were certi...

Re: A question from a newbie
There’s interesting stuff at bellmtcs.com for getting Contenders to act rite. They can’t be treated like a bolt action especially when it comes to maintaining the right headspace with your particular barrel/frame combination.

Re: Books on Precision Reloading for Accuracy
Sinclair’s 10th edition of the Handbook hasn’t been listed on their site or catalogs. Amazon says unavailable. Is it still available (new) from anywhere?

Re: 204 Ruger and steel targets?
I’ve shot scrap steel to 5/8” thick stainless and up to 1” mild steel. Anything high velocity will nearly or completely penetrate all of it. The “Birnell” rating needs to be up there if you want the steel to survive. I found this at metaltargets.com though I still haven’t done business with them, ye...

Re: At Rest
I went with the Basic Lightweight Rest but only because Sinclair didn’t have the heavy base in at that time. I did spring for the Generation II All-Purpose Windage Top with quick adjust for any size fore end and for the Superfeets. The windage feature was overkill but $till fun to play with. An extr...

Re: And the winner is....
Kingcrawler – What extra pains in addition to typical bolt gun reloading methods do you endure to get those consistent groups from your T/C break open? I have a 23” SS no taper G2 barrel in .204 used on an older Contender frame that I will soon be loading for.

Re: So Confused On Neck Sizing My 204 Round!
The Reloader - Did your “shrinkage” happen while doing ~ lighter loads? John Haviland has an article in the June 2011 American Rifleman telling of the broad range of velocities he has been able to achieve with a .22-250 Cooper Model 22 24” Nosler brass etc... “It is prudent to note that these reduce...

Anyone wanting to buy a new BR Pivot is in for a wait. Battenfeld guy says they are having problems with getting parts of acceptable quality. Per Battenfeld on 4/21/2011, I’m on the list but it would be another 30 to 60 days (now soon to late June) before they would be ready to ship.

Re: Off-road wheels
Good luck with the camera chip, I would like to see your seat mount shooting bench. “Cheap” is not the only reason I didn’t get a windshield (yet) with my Gator. The BR Pivot I blame on RIO pics of their recent cold and wet rat shoot involving fire from a fire truck and his bench doing duty from the...

Re: Off-road wheels
Thank you folks. I haven’t forgotten my experience with 70’s vintage rice grinders so it came down to Bobcat, Polaris, or good ole John Deere with their dealer located nearby. A gas powered Gator XUV625i is ordered with the battery powered Polaris losing as a close 2nd. There goes my 6mm AI and othe...

Off-road wheels
I’m contemplating committing the next three years gun toy money to some wheels to get me across the fields and thru the bush to engage assorted paper and misting targets and generally help draw what’s left of me away from the recliner. I’ve been looking at what ‘they’ calling mid-size UTV’s (side by...
