Re: 6.5 Grendel

Mike This April I got an Alexander Arms upper in 6.5 Grendel with a 24" barrel. This is my deer rifle that I will use hunting from my tree stand. Also I plan to use it for target shooting out to 600 yards at the range. On top sits a new Burris FFII Tac 30 scope with Burris tactical mounts. This...

Re: Les Baer AR-15 fun!!

Super 91 and Scott. Congradulations on some fine AR 15's. You will really enjoy shooting them especially in 204 Ruger. Last year I used the same load that you are useing on our PD shoot in South Dakota. A very accurate load in my AR15 and Savage 12VLP. I shot over 700 rounds in the AR15 and about a ...

Re: redding BR_30 help

Squatting Wolf.

The BR 30 is a very excellent powder measure. I use it with Benchmark,Rel 10X, and some Ball powders. It will work with all the 204 Ruger powders we use.

This is the only good powder measure of the four I have owned.

Re: Powder for AR in .204

Vartarg. Last Fall I shot about 800 rounds in my AR15 in 204 Ruger. The load used 25.1grs of Rel 10X powder,WW brass, 39gr Sierra BK, and Federal GM205M primer. This year I am makeing some changes to the load. I will try 24.7gr of Rel 10X to lower the pressure and take some stress off the brass duri...

Re: What is your opinion of a 37 grain bullet for the 204 Ruger?

BCB You have been very helpfull. Thanks for your input. Glen My idea of an ideal bullet in the 204 is this: High BC for long shots. Heavy enough to do the job on what I shoot with it. It must be very accurate with many different powders. Reasonable priced and avaliable to buy when I need them. Right...

Re: What is your opinion of a 37 grain bullet for the 204 Ruger?

A couple months ago I called and talked to Hornady, Sierra, and Nosler about bringing out a 37 grain bullet. One of the interesting things we talked about was bullet stability. One of them told me to file about three grains off the bullet tip. An example is to make a 40 grain bullet weigh 37 grains ...

serpent71 My Son and I build two identical AR 15's in 204 Ruger. We have a DPMS 204 barrel, Lewis Machine and Tool bolt and carrier, DPMS Highrider upper, and a DPMS vented handguard. The lower is a Superior Arms with Rock River Arms National Match trigger. An Ergo grip and RRA winter trigger guard....

Re: What is your opinion of a 37 grain bullet for the 204 Ruger?

BCB Thanks for all the bullet forming information. From your testing and knowledge of bullet makeing, could you explaine to us the perfect 38 gr bullet you would make to sell if you were a bullet company? What BC would it have? What demensions for lenght and bearing surface? Please do not think I'm ...

Re: What is your opinion of a 37 grain bullet for the 204 Ruger?

Bayou City Boy. The 37 grain bullet data we used: BC .245 Lenght .665" 37 gr Boat tail We also tried a BC of .230. The BC did not seem to change the twist rate. When the bullet was longer than .665", the twist rate started to fall below 1-12". I fully agree that your 38 grain HP bullet...

What is your opinion of a 37 grain bullet for the 204 Ruger?

Fellow 204 shooters. From my experince trying to shoot 40 grain bullets in a 1-12 twist rifle has not been very good. I cannot get the accuracy I would like. We used three different rifles with different loads and bullets tried in each one. From reading other members post, others also had trouble tr...

I'm sure the Black Rifle class will show up this shoot.

Re: Problem load

love2shoot There is a possibility that you crushed the primer when seating it. When primeing with a press you have alot of leverage and could crush it. There is also a possibility that the fireing pin just struck the primer with minnimum force to set it off. You would not get the normal flame to ign...

Re: 1st PD Shoot

joghotrod It's great news to hear you went shooting PD's for the first time. With that Dteck AR in 204 Ruger those PD's don't have a chance. You will clean a hill off before they knew what hit them. Like Rick in Oregon said, more people are geting into it. Last year two of us tried it. This year my ...
