She works!

Posted my "neewbee build" here this last winter. Have all the supplies for reloading the .204 with 39 gr Sierra BK's...just never got to it. Pops and I decided on a week trip through Montana to test out his new Polaris Razor. I agreed to 2 days Praire Dogging near Musselsell on the way bac...

Re: concentricity issues

Bow Shot! Exactly what I was looking for. Thx for sharing what you do. Remember when you were where I am?..."I wonder if I should chase this concentricity issue"? Yes, there is plenty to read on a "search"...problem is, it's not consistant advice. This has led me to believe I mus...

Re: concentricity issues

I like the Youtube vids of that RCBS guage Chris. Interesting, the Redding instructions also said to toss the rejects or set aside for less demanding uses....but dang, I sure see alot of neck-turning going on out there. I bought the high-end Redding micrometer/seater for my 7mm-08 accuracy Frankenri...

concentricity issues

Some questions please. I am attempting to move from a reloader, to a more accurate handloader. For those of you who do check neck runout and neck thickness, do you turn and ream necks? Or just toss the rejects? And once you are satisfied your necks are perfect, do you still check bullet runout? Or j...

Re: Which dies - Lee, Hornady, or RCBS?

Agree with Redding.

Gotta say though, in my limited experience, those Lee collet dies are as good or superior to Reddings type S bushing neck sizers. And for far less $$.

Too funny. Saw that about a year ago. I was rooting for the coyote to take a chunk out of his hand.

Re: new gun

Savage 11 is a good budget coyote killer. I just took my 11 shortaction out/apart for a 7mm-08 build. Only prblem I had with mine over 3 years was a rare loosening of the action screws. You know it instantly when the accuracy goes to pot. The non accu-stock leaves alot to be desired. But it will be ...

Re: Newbee build

They are the "highs". You can also see anther newbee mistake in my pic. Placed the scope for eye relief that felt good with my natural cheek placement....PROBLEM...too far reward to reach the charging handle. Fixed that problem today before the trip to the range. I bought a riser platform....

Re: Newbee build

Well, I couldn't wait any longer...local range is still closed for another 1.5 months. Called my neighbor for permission to use his 100 yd lane. Snow was 3ft+ deep, I'd say thigh deep. Trudged 20 yds to his bench, cleared off mountains of snow. Temp was 3 degrees....subzero coming up so it was today...

Re: Newbee build

Valar, I'm very new to reloading. Been reloading pistol for about 6 months and am getting very comfortable with it...380 ACP, 38/357, 45 colt and ACP. So decided it's time to try a rifle, shouldered cartridge, high velocity for accuracy....like the .204. I've got some new Redding dies, plenty of bra...

Re: Newbee build

yup...it comes off with some break-free or acetone though.
The Birchwood Black touch-up paint pen, worked just fine for my idiot marks.

Can you believe I still haven't got to the range with this baby yet!
