Case prep and Cartridge OAL

OK, gents, my questions of the day are: 1- How many neck size vs. FL size their cases? I use a FL competition die set by RCBS because it works well in my other calibers. I like the micrometer adjustment and I like the bullet guide for better alignment into the case. I do, however, neck size only for...

Re: IMR 8208 - 39 BK

I ran the 32V's with the 28.5 of 8208 and it printed decent. I had some other test loads with 4198 and Benchmark but didn't like them. I did not get a chance to load any 39BKs but will try this week. I loaded the 32s to an OAL of 2.350". I have no chance of getting them to touch but I might sta...

Re: IMR 8208 - 39 BK

i just put some 32V-max with 28.5 of 8208 together to see if I can find something outstanding about this powder. I'll try it tomorrow. I'll be trying some 27.?? with the 39 BK's too. I tried Benchmark powder but nothing was outstanding thus far. I struggled with my 25-06 until I found a magic match ...

IMR 8208 - 39 BK

I picked up a pound of this powder because they had it in stock (for once) at the local shop. I went in for 4895 and came out with both. I don't see a lot of published data for the 39BK and 8208 so I am asking what weight range would be a good starting point.

Thanks in advance!

Re: New to the forum- new to the 204

took the day off today to admire the new rifle. I set the "target" trigger down to just under a pound.. any less and it will drop to the accutrigger bar when closing it too hard. 6 ounces?? that is wishful thinking on Savage's part. i ditched the standard accutrigger on my long range gun i...

Re: Which Leupold scope is right for me?

Neil- I live by the rule that says buy as much scope as you can afford within the power range you need. . Great optics are as important as superior accuracy. In fact, they inhance it.
Buyers remorse is a terrible feeling 6 months down the road and I have a few scopes laying around to prove it.

Re: New to the forum- new to the 204

Couple followup questions- Do you have better luck with the mag primer? I couldn't get my 25-06 to perform well enough until I tried WW mag primers- what a difference! Second- what is your OAL on the cartridge?

New to the forum- new to the 204

Hey folks- I bought a Savage LRPV for my son (at least that's my story) and I ordered up some Nosler brass and Hornady 32gr V-Max bullets. I'm looking for some load info for a starting point. I've been reloading for 20 years so the process isn't new to me and I shoot .222 and 25-06 varmint rigs and ...
