Re: Neck size vs full length
I neck size only until the shoulders need bumping. Then I use a body die for that. I also quit using the type of die that draws a sizing spud through neck. With the Lee collett die, I get more consistency in neck/shoulder alignment and it works the brass less. Hedge, After you use the body die to b...

Lapua Flash Hole FYI
Saw this post on another forum and thought I'd pass it along in case anyone cares... “Just for info, the flash holes are punched, not drilled. We actually found we had greater problems with alignment and burrs drilling the holes than we do punching them. That, however, assumes the punch is properly ...

Re: 204 load tests...
What is the charge of R10X you'er using? Rich, following the Sierra load data I used 23.0, 23.5 and 24.0 grains......the latter being .4 grains below max according to their data. according to the Alliant site 27.6 is the max for RL10 and the Sierra 39. Mine found happiness with 24.5. http://www.all...

Re: 50gr and 55gr Berger .204 bullets?
yes, these bullets are too long to stabilize in a 12 twist.
Berger recommends 9 twist for 50's, 8 twist for 55's.
Although, I think I read somewhere that someone was shooting 50's in a 10 twist, but I could be wrong.

If you haven't already, please see this thread: http://www.204ruger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9368&p=71722&hilit=lee+seater#p71722 Try the VLD tool, but if your still having problems, try chamfering the hole in the bullet seating stem. I too had problems with hollow point bullets in ...

Re: 40gr V-Max and 12 Twist Stability
Your welcome, I just wanted to tell people not to give up on the 40gr v-max's too early without giving them a fair shake. It took quite a bit of load testing before I achieved accuracy. (Some of which was a learning curve on my part) Will it shoot that load into .25" 5 shot groups all the time?...

Re: Pulling .204 Bullets?
I've had decent luck with inertia pullers by laying a towel over a cement cinder block. About 3 blows and they seperate. Just don't whack it too hard or it might break the tool. Also, jam a foam earplug or something similar down inside the tool. When the bullet seperates, it will hit the foam and st...

40gr V-Max and 12 Twist Stability
I read alot about the stability issues of the 40gr V-Max (as well as other 40gr bullets) in a 12 twist barrel and I just want to give my opinion... First, I'm not trying to discredit anybody's results that have had stability issues. By all means, if you've tried them and they go through the target s...

Re: Question about the Berger 40gr Varmint BT
"BT" stands for boat-tail. They have a hollow point tip.
