short barreled 204 ruger
had this up before the crash but glad everything is back up! i took my remington 700 sps-v and shortened the barrel from 26" to 20" to reduce weight and make it faster handeling ( i live in kentucky and wont be shooting past 300 yards anyway in this heavy cover) http://i820.photobucket.com...

Re: Vortex Viper 6-20x44
i have had a 6.5-20x44 with target dot retical for about 5 month's now, have it mounted on my varmint and target rifle a rem 700 sps-v in a sps tactical stock chambered in 204 ruger! in my opinion this scope is a great buy it has great glass, very repeatable tracking on turrets, and nice side focus ...

Re: rings for vortex?
tell me if this is right! space from top of base to bottom of scope tube is .50", space between barrel and bottom of scope objective is .40", so .50"-.40"=.1" so a ring hight of .1" will clear the barrel!

40x stock on remmy 700?
i have been looking for a new stock for my remmy 700 204 ruger! going to use it as a paper puncher during the winter and a groundhog rifle during the summer and am done with the factory composite stocks that are way over priced and just dont have the feel (if you get what i mean)! on numrich website...

Re: anybody try the Barska scopes
i got a 4-16x50 a few years back when it was called the blackhawk by barska (they change the name ever so often to make it look like its a diffrent scope) this thing is the biggest piece of junk i have ever seen and i use alot of 25-80 dollar optics, i got the first one in the mail and when i looked...

Re: i think so hornady superformance, 204
correct rick im with you just curious about trying new stuff, accuracy is the name of the game and is the only reason i reload! i have no experiance with superformance and was unaware that there has been accuracy complaints with it but at the same time just about any load can be made to shoot well! ...

Re: 32 varry good 39 needs help
Some reloaders tend to push the velocities above max, but IMHO that overworks the brass and I'm too cheap to want to replace good brass due to split necks early on.. very true old turtle and well said with my rifle i let it choose my loads and this is what it likes and does not group well with othe...

Re: i think so hornady superformance, 204
rick the new powder is soon to be released to the public for reloaders, im just thinking that the superformance powder is the powder that was never released for the 204! and im just curious that if this is the same powder that with some handloads being hotter than factory ammo that the 204 could soo...

i think so hornady superformance, 204
i been thinking after seeing the new superformance ad from hornady that the 204 was designed around the superformance powder! when the 204 was first introduced it was said it used a special blended powder that boosted velocity and kept accuracy! with most handloads we can managed up to about 200fps ...

Re: 32 varry good 39 needs help
work up from the lowest charge in .2 grains of powder instead of .5 with such a small bullet and case capacity any change makes a big diffrence! when i got my sps i thought it would not shoot the 39 sierra but when i tried loads with .2 grain changes i found that 25.8 grains would give me sub 1/2 mo...
