Re: A couple off of the ole "meatsickle"

Nice shooting. I know it's probably is the camera angle but the coyote in the bottom picture sure has a funny looking muzzle. It sure is a coyote, but look at the broadness non tapering of the muzzle. Also I see a broader rounded nose and lower jaw. The crown of its head and even the eyes. Was the b...

Re: Bullet stability

Neil Could you do me a favor? Get a camera that will take some very close up pictures of the crown of your barrel. They need to be as sharp, in focus, as they can be. Not interested in looking at your barrel, just the hole coming out of it. Post the pictures so we all can have a look see. Sand Rat

Re: Bullet stability

I have a question for you. Is your 20 yrd target just stapled to a cardboard backer or piece of wood? Next time your at the range try shooting at 20yrds with just a piece of hard cardboard, no target. Let me know what the holes look like then. Make sure your target is straight up and down vert. and ...

Re: Needing prarie dog hunting recomendations or advice

I agree with Rick's information. To many times I have gone out with friends and wound up being a "hunt for a place to hunt" instead of a place to shoot a lot and have a good time. Get your A game on and go with good equipment, Flat shooting rifle, one that will do justice at 400yrds and lo...

Re: Which bullet for Bobcat?

I shoot a Rem 700 and my Son shoots a CZ Varmint in 17 Rem. We both shoot the same load of Varget and the same Berger 25 gr match Non MEF bullets with Rem cases. My son's rifle would only shoot about a .500 group till I switched primers. That primer switch to CCI in his rifle made it go to a bug hol...

Re: Which bullet for Bobcat?

I can not speak for the 204, because I use it for other things. But my coyote, bobcat rifle is a 17 Rem. I use 25gr Berger Non MEF match bullets, driven at 4000 fps. With this combo I have never had a bullet exit and kills like the hammer of Thor. But only if I use the 25 gr Berger's. No other bulle...

Nice shooting Sam. I wish I was beside you, spotting for you. I really love the long distance shots. Is that a dope chart under that shell box? I enjoy the excitement of spotting sometimes more that pulling the trigger my self.

Re: Lessons learned

Their was one Dog I nick named the Ghost Dog. He kept poking up way out their and I never got him. On Sun. the wind had settled to a lull of 2 to about 6 mph left to right. I never got the lazer to range him, their was nothing around him to pick up, but I estimated him just a hair over 450 yrds. I w...

Lessons learned

Last weekend I went on a P Dog outing with a couple friends. We had planed this hunt about eight months ago. I picked up a Savage 12 VLP chambered in 204 and put a 6x18 Leupold with a target dot on top. I had suggested they do like wise. But they bought new uppers for their Ar's spending within a hu...

Re: Nosler Ballistic Tips, Noticeable Changes

My experiences with 165 green tip 308 Nosler's has been out standing. Examples are I shot a doe at 482yrds. bullet expanded nicely at that range and had a exit wound hole of about two inches. This was through the ribs and cut the top of the heart, she traveled 10ft and DRT. But here is where that bu...

scope mounting

Need a little advice. I have an older Ruger M 77 with a tang safety in 338 win mag. I'm wanting to put my new 4x12 adj. Ao, 40 mm Leupold on it and the scope is hitting the barrel with the standard rings Ruger supplies with the rifle. Ruger and Leupold both said It should not be hitting the barrel, ...
