Re: Whats your Work Up Method

Jake, there's more than one way to skin a cat, but I would work in this order: 1) choose bullet (manufacturer, style, weight) 2) powder type 3) powder charge 4) seating depth 5) fine tuning tweaks, primers, advanced case prep, etc. Have you looked into the OCW method? If you Google "OCW load&qu...

Re: Shiney new .204 (do not view after eating)

I haven't worked up any 39 grain loads for my Savage yet, but found a good one for 32 grain Sierras using IMR 8208. The information is in this post: http://www.204ruger.com/forum/viewtopic ... 939#p59939

Re: Max magazine COL in .204 Savage 12?

I would just seat a bullet long in an empty case and keep seating it deeper until it fit. That way you could check to be sure it would feed smoothly into the chamber as well as fit in the magazine before you loaded up batch.

Re: Postal shoot cancelled.

Sorry things didn't work out for you guys. I was interested in shooting it, but I noticed something like a restriction on the join date and I didn't qualify.

Re: IMR 8208 XBR .204 load and group

Sorry Jeff, I edited the original post to give the powder weight of 28.8 grains. Although it doesn't show any sign of excessive pressure in my rifle, it is approaching what Hodgdon lists as being the 29.0 maximum for that powder. Also, the bullets were actually 32 grain Sierra BK's. I had a bunch of...

IMR 8208 XBR .204 load and group

I thought I would join the forum and share some information, as I know I appreciated finding this site and looking over information. Recently I bought a Savage model 12 thumbhole stock .204 and mounted a Leupold Mark 4 6-20. I have been working at developing a load and getting it to shoot well, as I...
