Re: 32 grain noslers
I have shot them and they shot as well as the Sierra BK. At the time I could not get enough of the Noslers, so I decided to stock up with the Sierra 32 BK which was available. I have since got better groups with the Sierra bullets than I had with the Noslers, but I also put more time into load devel...

Re: What were they thinking?
Sorry to hear about the problems. I noticed the front roof drip line looks about like the local range here, located barely forward of the rifle muzzle. Just a small drizzle sends me packing, that's the one major complain I have about the local range I shoot at.

Re: large cal. rifles
Hunting and killing bull elk is my main reason for living, so I have to chime in. I have killed several elk with a .270 or 7mm Remington magnum, and would have likely killed more with the rifles except I have killed more of them than I can remember with arrows before firearm season. I never had to h...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...
Matt, It sounds like you have the ability to shoot good groups, I hope you find the problem before long. Unless it is broken, you have a nice scope. The distances on the parallax adjustment knobs or rings don't always match up with the actual distance. I bed the rifle on the bench in sandbags (anyth...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...
You said the rifle(s) shot decently with factory loads? Have you tried factory loads again to use as a benchmark for comparison? 1) what group size are you getting with your best handloads? 2) what distance, wind conditions, what kind of rest and bench? (e.g. front and rear sandbag on concrete bench...

In my opinion a lathe is the best tool for trimming dies.

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...
Consistent neck tension is important for consistent accuracy, so once you get that straightened out you should start seeing some good gains. Personally, I believe unless your brass is quite consistent in thickness around the neck from one case to another that sizing the neck with an expander is bett...

Re: My handloads stink up the entire West Coast...
I have shot good groups with Benchmark and even decentl ones with the 26g bullets (1/2"), although I have not worked much with the 26 grain VG yet. I would say the largest part of your problem is inconsistency with the powder charge. You'll also have to find the best amount of powder for the va...

Re: Ruger M77 II Target/Varmint in 204 Ruger?
I'm sorry I hadn't been able to report back on the trigger pull. I'm glad though that the rifle your brother in law has seems to be a good one, I like a lot of things about the Rugers.

Re: Turbo Varmint
............... So anyway, I grabbed my trusty RUGER 77/44 and with the neigbors concurring, put a couple of rounds in a nearby stump. Hopefully, the bear will take this as a sign that he is not wanted and take off for the hills. I hope your are right, but personally I wouldn't count on it. If the ...

Re: Ruger M77 II Target/Varmint in 204 Ruger?
I don't know what the actual weight of my brother's Ruger trigger is, perhaps I can check it in the next day or so. I know it isn't as light as my Savage which is pretty close to a hair trigger, but the Ruger trigger still felt and shot nice I thought.

Re: BL-C(2) and temperature
There was a thread not too long ago with pictures of primers that might be informative for you, it needs to be determined if your pressure signs are real or false alarms. The cases grow with each shot and will start to get tight, some sooner than others. Also, full length sizing dies sometimes will ...

Re: Ruger M77 II Target/Varmint in 204 Ruger?
I have a Savage model 12 BTCSS and my brother has a Ruger M77 target, both in 204. He has a Bushnell (3200 I think) that goes to 16x. I shot one group with it using some factory Hornady 40 grain loads. The 5 shot group was about 3/4" - 7/8", I don't remember exactly, but it wasn't in the b...

Re: Looking for some input please.
Out of those choices I would also recommend a .260", one of my employee's just built one up from an old Rem 700 action he picked up. He installed a custom barrel and an aftermarket stock. It shoots quite well the recoil isn't bad. Personally, I don't consider a 140 grain bullet to be too excess...

Re: BL-C(2) and temperature
Neil, I have used about 2/3 pound of BLC 2 for 204 loads and haven't had any pressure signs yet. I have loaded all of the way to max recommended load, and even went over by .1 grain. All of the loads used either CCI-450, CCI BR4, or Rem. 7-1/2 primers. Any load in my Savage model 12 will show some c...
