Re: trouble with consistent reloads

I bought a set of the Hornady dies a while back..........didn't care for them. REALLY worked the necks too much. I've since bought a set of Redding bushing dies, and they work much better. I've also had better luck with Blitzkings than v-max in my guns. I agree, I have the 204 hornady dies and they...

Re: trouble with consistent reloads

Another question...........do I need to chamfer my cases everytime I resize my brass or just when I trim them? Only after a trim. I would give Sierra BK 39gr a try, my 204 hates V-max 40gr. As regarding run-out, I have always rotated the case 3 times during the reloading process and although I don'...

Re: choosing a bullet and powder for .204 please help

I have always been a firm believer in the Hogdon H4895, I am using 29gr under a 32 gr V-max bullet (3825 ft/sec) and is my second choice load. My first choice by a very small margin goes to 26gr of 10X under a 39BK (3715 ft/sec) from my Howa sporter with a 22" barrel. Both these are top end loa...

Re: new remington 700 and 40 grain v max not grouping at 100 yds

Woody, I am now getting fed up trying different bullet and powders in my Howa 204 sporter but one thing is for certain, I will not be shooting V-max 40gr, they group like a shotgun. It will shoot both V-max and BK 32 gr with H4895 or 10X to about 3/4" and also the 39g BKs with 10X also to about...

Re: new remington 700 and 40 grain v max not grouping at 100 yds

Hi Woody, Don’t discard the 32gr for fox, I used to shoot a 17 rem with 22gr Bergers and they used to drop foxes stone dead at 250 yds. Just like a bag of jelly when you picked one up. I am now shooting a new Howa 204 and although my groups are not as good as I would like, (about the 1”...

Re: Max magazine COL in .204 Savage 12?

I would just seat a bullet long in an empty case and keep seating it deeper until it fit. That way you could check to be sure it would feed smoothly into the chamber as well as fit in the magazine before you loaded up batch. Yes, I would go along with MDs recomendation, I went throught the same pro...

You’re just having a laugh; you’re just trying to make us all jealous. Of course you must go but don't expect any sympathy if one pulls you in.

Re: UK shooting spree

[quote="BabaOriley"]go nuts. The one thought I come back to in cases like this is how if more people were allowed to own or carry guns, a guy like this may not get to kill 12 before someone stops him. Had a member of the public shot the guy, the police would say that they had used too much...

Howa 204 OAL ?

I have just started reloading for my 204 Howa s/s Sporter and I am finding that I am governed to a maximum 2.30” OAL by the length of the magazine. I have measured the distance to the lands and the nearest I can get is 150 thou. Although accuracy is not affected by this long jump and I know ot...
