Depends on the gun. Some are capable of consistent kills at 700 yds, others less. But the gun is almost always more capable than the shooter.

I am new to your site, but need some help. I purchased a used .204 in a remington light varmint a few months back. Seems to do REAL well with remy factory 40gr. V-max. Tried 32gr. V-max and it "slings" them all over the paper. So I loaded some 40gr. V-max with Benchrest this past weekend ...

It looked like this bullet is pretty much dead past 400 yards with only 200ft-lbs energy left. Will that even penetrate a prairie dog's skin? What range can I expect explosive acrobatics out to? I would say out 700 and maybe a bit beyond. Not sure about your program though. Even Hornady 32 gr facto...
