Re: New stock for my Savage 93
Thanks for the kind words. I thoroughly enjoyed making this one even if I did leave out some of the 'ginger bread' I had thought about putting on it. Gopher shooting this summer here in NW MT has gone back to gopher hunting. I've gotten all of one so far and only saw 3. I'll do my best to pac...

Re: New stock for my Savage 93
Just some minor touch up in small areas and it's pretty much done. Decided to forego the grip cap for now. I can add it later if the mood strikes me. I have the new action screws done, found #12 screw blanks at Brownell's and a 12-32 die and die handle from Wholesale Tool. Will put up a few more pix...

Re: New stock for my Savage 93
More progress pix. Just need to make the butt plate and grip cap, will use same wood as tip cap, and then final sanding and finish. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t194/kg7rq/Savage%2093%20stock%20pix/DSCF0301.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t194/kg7rq/Savage%2093%20stock%20pix/DSCF0304.jp...

Re: Finally got my 16 gauge A5!
I had an Auto 5 many moons ago.( mid '60's- early '70's) 16Ga is all I've ever used to hunt ducks, geese. pheasants and grouse with here in NW Montana. It never let me down. Congrats!!! You will love it!!!!

Re: New stock for my Savage 93
P99.... Thank you!!! You have no idea what a compliment that is!! The design is completely out of my own mind, drawing heavily from sections of other stocks that I liked. i.e. the old Herter's varminter stock, Fajen's Aristocrat and varminter stocks and the tac-driver and wildcat sporter from Richar...

Re: New stock for my Savage 93
It started literally with a piece of walnut log. It was the last piece out of Pop's shop, left over from some he got at a relative's property in northern Iowa in the mid 1970's. They were going to buck it up into firewood. Pop being a wood worker said 'No way!!' Pop brought home a Uhaul open car car...

New stock for my Savage 93
Picked up a Savage 93R17 a year or so ago, cheapie model with synthetic stock with the idea in mind of making a stock for it. Here's pix of the progress so far. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t194/kg7rq/Savage%2093%20stock%20pix/DSCF0284.jpg http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t194/kg7rq/Savage%2...

Re: Looking for some input please.
OT... good points!!! I 'revised' my email to her and offered my hunting rifle to her if it was a caliber she would be interested in. Learned long ago that.... 'Father knows best.' Isn't a statement that holds a lot of water!! ;0)
Thanks everyone!! Hope ya'll had a great 4th of July!! ;0)

Re: Looking for some input please.
Sorry for not responding sooner.... was over in N. ID for a few days. Thank you for the input. Ammo for the 260 Rem or the 6.5x55 seems to come in only 139-140 gr commercially and that would be OK. Perhaps a bit heavy for deer. I'll just have to see if she is interested in reloading or not. Maybe ge...

Looking for some input please.
Wanted to ask for fellow board members thoughts on something if I may. My youngest daughter is going to be the law enforcement officer for a Wildlife Refuge in SW WY. They are going to outfit her pretty well for duty weapons, Glock 20, Glock 27, AR15 and Rem 870 12 Ga. She's getting into hunting als...
10/22 pix
Got the 10/22 out to limber it up for gopher season so I thought I'd get a couple of pix to share. Wilson air gauge barrel, Fajen Varminter stock, (from many moons ago) trigger re-worked with Volquartzen target hammer, trigger pull now just under 2 lbs. Total investment $265. http://i160.photobucket...
