SOLD -- Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 w/Varmint Z reticle.

SOLD -- Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 w/ Varmint Z reticle . I bought this new 4-5 years ago, and put it atop my .204 Ruger. I inherited a few varmint rifles shortly thereafter, and this combo subsequently got little use (less than 100 rds thru it). I got tired of it taking up space in the gun safe, so I...

Re: SUCCESS! .204 ruger on a deer. [pictures]

Just wanted to post this because awhile back i posed the question of whether or not using the .204 on a deer was practical. a lot of the comments were doubtful and questioned the ethics. Just wanted to post this to show proof that this little pill of a bullet has some serious power. I I don't think...

Re: i got growled at.

I feel your pain, man! 10+ years ago when living in SE Idaho, we decided to raise a batch of Guinnea hens. Kept them in the garage for 6 weeks until they were big enough for an outside coop I had made of chicken wire and 1/2" plywood. First night outside, a fox had chewed a 5"x5" hole...

Interesting Video Clip

Ran across this on another site. I'm not a fan of "long range hunting" (main thing I see is all the terrain and cover he has to work with in order to work in closer for a more comfortable shot) but it's still a helluva shot. Part I found interesting on this video was the very visible bulle...

Re: buffalo

not interested in shooting a buff in a pen I'm not aware of any true buff "hunts" in the US. I believe it's all penned game animals. What differs is the size of the pen -- might be 250 ft, or might be 2500 acres. To me, the biggest elements in hunting is that of finding the game -- it's w...

Re: your fierarms collection / favorite gun

Having a large collection of guns has never been a big concern of mine, so if something sits unused for very long, it goes down the road. With my recent acquisition of a .204, I think I have my shooting needs covered with a 3 rifle arsenal: Savage model 99 Featherweight in .308 Sako model 75 in .375...

Re: If not a Leupold then what?

maverick what model Zeiss did you go with? I just bought a Zeiss 3x9x40 from basspro about a month ago because I had some rewards points to use up. I still haven't put the new Zeiss on anything yet to try it out. The glass in it seems very nice and I like it alot and I think it will work out great ...

Re: Shooting Advice and Technique

I'd be surprised if shooting from the roof of the ute isn't accountable for at least a portion of the misses. That high above the pivot point (tires) any movement or weight distribution change in the rig (may be as simple as fuel sloshing) will create an exaggerated movement at your rifle rest. Engi...

Re: Was a good weekend

Thats a whopper bull, Congrats! Are you getting him mounted? No - did a European mount instead. Shoulder mount of a moose is way too big for any space we have available. (In general, they won't fit thru a 36" doorway, bottom of the mount at the neck is only 3' off the floor if it's in a room w...

Re: Hunt wish list?

My big game hunting "Bucket List" would include: 1. Brown bear in Alaska 2. Bighorn Sheep in Idaho 3. Mountain Goat in Idaho 4. Cape buffalo in Africa #1 is probably the most likely for me (I have a buddy who guides for Brown Bear hunts) while #2 and 3 are based on luck of the draw.... #4 ...

Was a good weekend

Went to the local (Lewiston, ID) Bighorn/Gun show over the weekend to check out scopes. Heard in advance that they’d have someone there to score racks, so grabbed my moose antlers (Shiras Moose from N. Idaho) to see how they’d score out of curiosity. Dropped them off on Saturday mornin...
