I'm shooting a 1 in 10 twist Pac-Nor Super Match. No problems with the 39 and 40 grain bullets. Shooting 50 gr Bergers as well.sakofan wrote:Is there anyone here using one of these 1/10 twist barrels and what kind of results are you getting with the 39 and 40 grain bullets.

I shoot the 50 gr Berger in a 1 in 10 twist Pac-Nor Super Match barrel on a Remington 700 VLS. My best loads are 25.0 gr H4895 and 24.4 gr IMR 8208 XBR. Your own mileage may vary.

Re: 50 G Berger 204 load data
Thank you i am still waiting for a reply from Aliant. I am also going to check with my local shop, as he got me started on 10x in the 204 round. Keepin it safe as grain structure of powder varies as well. Thanks for your reply it may well be a factor in my desicion. Pressure with 10x is known to ri...

Re: which powder
H4895 has always been my "go to" powder for the 204. That said, I have also had success with Reloader 10X, W748, IMR 4895, and probably a couple of others I am forgetting. My latest experiments have been with XBR 8208, and they look very promising.

Re: 50 G Berger 204 load data
Hey folks I have emailed aliant,so far no answer. Does anyone know of starting and max load for 204 with 50 grain BHBT and aliant 10x? Aliants chart online shows data for 222 but nothing for 204? 222 data would be a bit light as 204 is 222mag case? Thanks ahead of time. I have been searchingonline ...

I use the CCI 450 exclusively in my 204's. Thick cups like the BR4.

Re: 50 gr Berger and XBR 8208
Tried the two loads with XBR 8208 and the 50 gr Berger yesterday. A load of 24.4 gr proved considerably superior accuracy wise to the max listed load of 24.9 gr. Didn't get an opportunity to chrony either of them, but will post some pics of groups and chrony results too if I get an opportunity later.

Re: 50 gr Berger and XBR 8208
I'd be interested in this! I have a TC in .204 with 1:10 twist. We have been using .22 Hornets to cull some herds and I'd love to be able to use the 50 or 55gr. bullets. I'm already shooting the 50 gr Berger with H4895, so you should have no trouble with it. And the XBR 8208 powder holds even great...

50 gr Berger and XBR 8208
Wondering if anyone has yet been able to try the 50 gr Berger and the (relatively) new XBR 8208 powder combination for their .204. Just starting to try this combo (in a 1 in 10 twist) and I'm curious about velocities. The suggested range from Hodgdon is pretty narrow, starting at 23.0 and maxing out...

Re: anyone reload for fast-twist barrels?
The Berger 50 grain bullet is recommended for a 1:9" twist, and they are very consistent dimensionally ... I plan to add IMR 8202 XBR in the future. I rebarreled my Remington 700 VLS with a 1 in 10 twist Pac-Nor Super Match, with a custom spec chamber, following some good advice (and assistanc...

A Jewell BR trigger is currently being installed in my Remington 700 VLS fast twist (1 in 10) Pac-Nor Super Match. Looking forward to even tinier groups.
