Re: Rebarreling a Rem 700 VLS to .223AI - advice?
What's the best way of communicating with the good folks at Pac-Nor? I submitted an email through their website a few days ago. No reply yet.

Re: .204 in a Tikka?
Does anyone know if the Tikka 204s are available in the US yet? Beretta's website, does not yet list the 204 in any of the Tikka models that I can see. You can see the new .204 Ruger line up at the Tikka website. http://www.tikka.fi/ The heavier Varmint and Super Varmint models were previously avai...

Oh, I realize that. I just don't plan on changing anything other than the barrel.acloco wrote:You don't have to change the action, just buy a bolt. 243/6mm is still a short action cartridge.

Re: Rebarreling a Rem 700 VLS to .223AI - advice?
Well, that says a lot, doesn't it. I see Pac-Nor makes a 3 groove, 1-in-9, .20 cal barrel.Rick in Oregon wrote:....very impressive to say the least, and as a user of both the 223AI and the 204, if I were building one or the other right now, I'd go the 204 with 9 twist and the 50 grain route hands down.

Oh, thanks, Hotshot, for giving me yet more attractive options!Hotshot wrote:I'd go fast twist 204 and shoot the 50 Berger. Run some ballistic charts and see what is best for what you hope to accomplish.

Re: Rebarreling a Rem 700 VLS to .223AI - advice?
Your barrel life will more than likely, not be good. How much is "not good" ? I've heard maybe 25% less life than a standard fast twist .223. If you want to shoot a heavier bullet at longer distances, I would lean heavily towards a 6 mm AI. The long neck on the brass helps to take the abu...

Re: Rebarreling a Rem 700 VLS to .223AI - advice?
Definitely looking for a fast twist, probably the 1 in 8. (I already have a 1 in 12 twist .223). Just wondering about barrel life in the faster twist .223AI. Still plenty of life in the AI chambering? Other than that, I guess I'm most interested in the specific barrel that might sit nicely in my 700...

Rebarreling a Rem 700 VLS to .223AI - advice?
I'm thinking of rebarreling my .204 Ruger Remington 700 VLS to a .223AI, and will probably go with a Pac-Nor barrel. It will be a dedicated bench rest rifle. (Not that I'm not happy with .204. Quite the opposite, but my .204 CZ 527 shoots quite well and is MUCH lighter to carry, and I've got a .204 ...

Re: .204 in a Tikka?
I have a Tikka T3 .204 and its deadly accurate. You wont be disappointed if you decide to buy one. Just make sure you pair it with a good quality scope on tikka optilock rings and bases. Just wondering if yours is a T3 Lite? I know that Tikka has expanded their product line this year to offer the ....

Re: Tikka T3 204 ?
Tikka has finally jumped on the 204 Ruger bandwagon. Only the Varmint model was previously available, but the .204 T3 Lite is new for 2008. There are none in North America yet that I know of. I've been on a waiting list for a lefty .204 T3 Lite SS since November, and I'm told it could be another 3-4...

Re: Man 8, Gopher 1 - Canadian's need our help!
... most of the Canadian's I know are pro-gun, it's just their idiot liberal government that runs the place that is out to lunch with their draconian gun laws (handguns banned). The first part is correct; years of Liberal government did some serious damage to the firearms community. We still haven'...

Re: New addition to the arsenal: CZ527 American
steve, I've only put about 30 rounds down the pipe so far, but my CZ seems to have an affinity for the lighter end of the bullet spectrum. The factory 32 gr Hornady Vmax shot very well (two of three holes touching) and a 35 gr Berger load (which I had worked up previously for my Rem 700 VLS) was als...
