Re: Hodgdon and Berger 40 grains
email with info sent. Anyone wanting either the 35g or 40g Berger info send me your email. It doesn't format well to view otherwise.

Re: 32GRAIN,39-GRAIN,-40GRAIN
Try as I might, I couldn't get my Cooper 1:12 to fire 32g bullets well. 39g SBK's and even 40g Bergers work very well for me.

Re: 204 cooper
When opening the bolt after firing, my Cooper seemed a bit tight for several hundred rounds. It would seem that once I began using fire formed (Norma) brass, both opening and closing were constant and very, very smooth.

Re: Cooper Question
I got Talley's with mine. The look is a bit different than Leupold, but I like it just as much, if not more. No lapping required, either.

Re: .204 Cleaning Patch Size
I tried 3/4" squares for a very short time, then switched to 1" squares. They seem to be perfect to me.

Re: 35 berger
If you're going for a load workup scenario I've read that Berger is not going to continue moly coated bullets. I wrote them to either confirm or deny this because I am just about to place my next 35g order, but never got a reply. I'd hate to work up the ideal load only to find the bullets were no lo...

Re: New VSSF, how much 10X?
I use between 24.4 and 24.7 of 10x when using 39g SBK's. Accuracy works best in my 1:12 twist Cooper between 3600 and 3650 fps. On hot summer days I go down as low as 24.4 and on cooler days use 24.6 or 24.7. Accuracy drops off just a bit at speeds above 3650.

Re: POSTAL SHOOT DETAILS - BEGINNING STAGES - **IDEAS WELCOME**
Just curious... since my only .204 is a Cooper, are they considered production for the Postal Shoot?

Re: SONIC CLEANER
I bought a Gemora, the same item at $74.95 (shipping included) without the Hornady name. The unit, by far, cleans best when the water is very warm, or hot. I heat the distilled water in a glass kettle, add an ounce or so of the cleaner solution then let 'er rip. I usually do a hundred cases or so at...

Re: Free Recoiling
Using my Sinclair Seating Depth Gauge I found that at 2.384 my 39g Sierra's were touching the lands. The 39g Sierra's and 35g Berger's are the shortest OAL of my four major loads. The problem, as already mentioned, is that with some bullets there is little of them in the neck if backing off of the l...

Re: Free Recoiling
TD-Max... Up until now I've had the Cooper fairly snug into my shoulder, and depending upon how lined up the shot was, either lightly holding the fore-end (already supported in the rest), or squeezing the bag. My right hand (3 fingers) is very lightly toughing the grip while squeezing the trigger. I...

Re: Free Recoiling
Free recoiling is simply not touching the rifle while shooting, except for squeezing the trigger. This would be very easy with a true benchrest 1.5oz pull. Minor aiming adjustments are made by using the left hand to squeeze the rear bag into the perfect aim. The theory is that by only touching the t...

Re: Free Recoiling
Both RL10x and Benchmark had tight results, with the 10x only fractionally better using several different bullets... Sierra 39g SBK's and both Berger 35g and 40g . I do exact powder weights for every cartridge on a Redding #2 scale after using a Harrell BR powder drop. All cases (Norma) were trimmed...

Free Recoiling
Well, I tried free recoiling with my bench rest mounted Cooper yesterday. I'd read that this method is used by some in bench rest, but it sure didn't work for me. After about 75 rounds of various bullets and loads I decided that it wasn't working for me. My groups went from well below 1/2 MOA to abo...
