Re: Which Rifle would you pick?
Any heavy bolt gun or Contenders, and #1 Rugers Varmint, will do,as long as it's a 204r.King of the prarie IMO.Heavier stuff is for the 1000+ yd hero shots. My G2 Contender surprised me on distance.Taking Dogs out to 400yds,and barrel would only get warm during fast shooting ,20 Ackley Bee, w/32gr Nosl...

Re: South Dakota PD Safari
JoeO, looks like you had a great time in my home state. That's a long time to be away from home but from the report you kept busy and entertained. Not much there to block the wind once it starts to blow. I took my .204, .223 AR, and a .243 early last fall. Wind was terrible but that's to be expecte...

bow shot wrote:$20 a day !!???????
That was last year.He went to 25 this year.We bought his lunch each day (sandwich),paid him every day and gave hin a $50 bonus the last day.Total $350 for 12 days shooting, each.A bargain for what access he provided.A no hassle deal for us,and he opened and closed all the gates.

Re: South Dakota PD Safari
Wondering what your idea of "reasonable" is regarding the cost of your guide? Does he have a website? I'm guessing you are recommending him. Sounds like a great trip, please get some pics posted! Prices vary among guides on that reservation (25-50 a day).John Bird, our guide is on the lowe...

South Dakota PD Safari
Just got home from a long trip to the Crow reservation in South Dakota.Shooting was great.Enjoyed shooting in the wind three out of 12 days.Cold days and warm days. Two rain days gave us time to visit Pierre and Mitchell(Cabelas). We hauled a 16' trailer with two UTVs and shot from them, every day.Bein...

Re: Minimum Twist for 55gr Berger Bullets??
Berger list a 1:8 twist for that bullet, however some have had good results with 1:9.I had a surprise when my Ruger K1V 204 shot a group in the 1s with a 45gr Hornady SP,blem, with a 1:12 twist.Go figure.

Re: Neck sizing issues...
If I would use a body die and then neck size, isn't that the same as FL sizing?[/quote]
The body die does not size as much as a FL die. I don't know how much differencs, as my other dies in the same caliber are neck bushing dies.

They have been around for decades.Just haven't tried them, for the reasons you question,Plus not needed on the bench guns, just walkabout guns.

Re: Neck size then full length.
You might. For my 243AI and 204 I just neck size with bump shoulder neck bushing dies, and have body dies if needed. They dont size as much as a FL die,and they also will bump the shoulder.

I think it would be just the ticket for your application.Set on low power(5)will give you all the light you need for low light conditions .Yotes beware!

Accu trigger.Hate em of love em.A smith can remove the blade and set up a nice crisp trigger in the 2lb range.I may do that with my LRPV w/target trigger, for next years shoot.Takes some getting used to.Spoiled with a Jewel @9oz on my 243AI Rem/Hart.
