Re: need advice on bullet seating depth for .204

As I recall,Hornady factory rounds are 2.250 +/- with a heavy crimp. They seem to shoot fine in all guns, and all gun manufacturers throat the chamber long.A few friends and I ,have independently settled on 2.330-2.350 OAl with the Sie 39gr BK.I have been out to 2.400 and still didn't touch the lands ...

Re: Primer Cratering??

If you still have any of that factory Remy brass, take a look, otherwise try Remy primers and see if you still get the cratering.Seems comonplace for new guns to have craters in all ammo, due to a poor fit of the firing pin and/or protrusion. My Savage was so bad,it was hard for me to believe it ever le...

Re: Previous loaded ammo for a new barrel in same Caliber

Thanks Scootertrash and RIO.I had 350 rounds loaded for varmits w/70 gr blitz in the parent 243 case,so no problem with that. The other loaded brass that is fireformed, was the problem.Finished getting all the brass prepped now,and sorted in two neck diameters and weight for some test groups.Working d...

Previous loaded ammo for a new barrel in same Caliber

I recently received my 243AI back from the barrel maker with a new barrel, previous one was glass beaded, this one polished SS.I like them both.I thought about this briefly, but as it was coming from the same shop, discounted the posibility.Besides about 300 rounds of loads in the parent 243 case,I had ...

Re: Electronic powder dipencers

I have used beam scales;Redding and RCBS for 50 years and other than capacity,in the case of the Redding,(shot loads),found them to be satisfactory for all load applications.Didn't load rifle for many years, but started loaded alot of handgun.Bought a Pact electronic scale, about 20 years ago and othe...

Re: Electronic powder dipencers

The scale may not have been level,or not reading accurately with test weights. In any case,if calibrated correctly, the electronic scale on the powder dispensor should be reading the most accurate amount.

Re: Electronic powder dipencers

What little I have been able to find out, they can be set faster, depending on type of powder and amount of load.Apparently the speed change is when the slow trickle comes in.I have A lyman DPS 3,and it does a great job on all powders, but you need to wait even when seating bullets, and on auto dispense...

Re: advice please

thanks again for the replys gents, i am very fortunate to have a local indoor 100yrd range, that i use, and all tests are done on there. at this range my rem seems to bughole the 40's quite well, i started off with 40 rnds of factory hornady ammo and cratering on all the primers was evident, and a l...

Re: 32 grain noslers

What little load data I have is a work in progress, but plan to use them in my TC 20AB,(24", 1:12 twist)which just went off yesterday for rechambering.Look promising.I like the small Boat tail, and expect to get close to 3600fps AA1680,after fireforming.

Re: newbie!! hi ya'll

Scope looks right at home on that gun.I would have it set farther back as the eye relief decreases whenthe magnification goes higher.Shot mine the other day.Like the dot more and more.At the sale price those scopes are a steal.

Not too much out there in nice wood for the P13 commander sized wide frame. Here's one from Brownells http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=9558 ... ERED_GRIPS

Let us know how you're load development goes.My 243AI will be back from Hart, next week. Before the rebarrel ,I was getting excellent groups with H4831 46.5gr pushing a Sie 95 Match King (oal 2.780) 3200FPS,.221 groupe.Hope I can at least repeat that.

Nice, having a wife that understands a gun crazed husband.Beautiful grips and platform.Although retired from the Air Force,I really like the Navy grips allot. I'll need to investigate if anyone has simaler grips for a Para, wide frame.
