Re: Pulling .204 Bullets?
I always had good results pulling my 204s ond 6mm with the Hornady collet puller (reloads),without damage to the bullet. If seated deep it could be a problem. The inertia should work with reloads. Now so well with the factory crimp.

Re: Case trimming lengths ?
Check out the SAMMI drawings of the case and the chamber, then measure a new piece of brass for OAL. http://www.saami.org/PubResources/CC_Drawings/Rifle/204%20Ruger.pdf This spec says the cartridge length is 1.850" - .020. I know that 1.850" is the maximum so this would suggest 1.830"...

Re: How many reloads?
The part about, not knowing how much unloaded brass I have, applies to me.LOLNot sure yet how many loads I need to finish before my spring PD hunt,But I know it's a couple thousand,204 (2guns)and a 20AB.Will probably shoot 300 rounds between all guns before I go.I feel for you.I'm retired,so can spend...

Re: Case trimming lengths ?
I'v found that most chambers are longer than necessary and brass is shorter than necessary.I measure each chamber with the Sinclair gage ($7),and just square up the case mouths (minimum cut).Cases that are much shorter than the norm, are set aside and used for fouler shots or other measurments. With ...

Good taste.Probably the best finished production 1911 out there.Comes very close to a Ed Brown in fit and function.Enjoy.

Re: Ruger M77 Hawkeye Predator & Hornady 45 Gr Sp
Before you commit, talk to Hornady about the twist needed to stabilize that 45 grain bullet. Most factory barrels have a 1:12 twist, and some of those don't stabilize the 40gr offerings. On the other hand, for Coyotes, the lighter HP bullets 35,37,etc could be a better choice.

Re: Ruger #1 came in
Congrats Rooster.I have one just like it,and still tweaking.I did freefloat the barrel, and installed a Moyer trigger.to get the factory trigger down from 31/2lbs.Not bad,and it broke well without overtravel.I'm looking for 2lbs or thereabouts.I'll also experiment with the wedge between the barrel an...

Re: Anyone use a Hornady seater/crimp die?
I do have a Hornady 20 cal seating die that I may use because I am getting large ES on my 20 Ackley Bee,with carefully prepped and loaded rounds.Saw a thread that opt for more tension/crimp on the thinner brass cases, like the 218 Bee.Makes sense,so will try finishing up my loads with a slight roll c...

Re: Just how important is clean brass?
I only tumble large batches.When working up loads,with 20-30 cases,I wipe them clean,use 4 "o" steel wool on the neck,brush the inside,and load.Trim and anneal as necessary.

Re: hunting in south dakota for 1st time
Joe, one other thing to keep in mind with the local "guides" (can you tell I'm not a fan?) is that the law requires a guide to be with you at all times. Most of them will come and go throughout the day, but if you're caught without a guide present you can and will be fined. Your friend mi...

Re: hunting in south dakota for 1st time
Thanks Mike and Rick.I'll be on the lookout for that problem. No choice as to location,as will be traveling with a friend hauling both out SXS buggies, and he has shot this area 6-7 years. We'll see.
