Re: Noob question
I have loaded hundreds of new brass without running them through any type of die.Just prep the brass,ie flash hole, primer pocket,I usually champher the inside of the neck,Prime, powder and seat the bullet. You should have enough tention. After the first fireing,is when I clean, use a neck sizing die,un...

Re: hornady 40 gr vmax questions
Not just something that happens with the 204 or other bullets. For every bullet to seat at the exact same place would require the seating stem of your die to contact the bullet in the same place every time.A slight difference in the shape of the bullet will change that.In the case of the tip, remove t...

Re: distance from lands with my new 700
Valar Headspace is a seperate isssue from freebore/throat.Your go/no go gage may measure accurately, and still have excessive freebore, determined by the reamer used.It is next to imposible to hit the lands in a factory 204ruger,with most bullets of 40gr or less.If you intend to use your magazine,seat...

Lee makes a carbide taper crimp die for around $17.I recently got one from MidSouth, but haven't tried it yet.You probably know that Berry is working on a serrated hollow point 45.I'm waiting to try them out.

I'm guessing your refering to a 204ruger.Not familure with that bullet, or 10X powder, but I would work up with the 8208XBR from 27gr should max out around 27.4.Your gun may differ.

I have seen videos and other accurizing tips on the internet.Your search engine will find them.Floating the barrel and a better trigger will go a long way to shooting good consistant groups.Other tricks could help.Don't give up on the gun. They're fun to shoot.

Re: New Kimber....
Nice. That would be my choice for a 45 carry gun, that would do the job in IDPA CDP class, as well. The full sized grip on a Commander with the Bobtail,is a great handling gun.I have been having occasional failure to feed, and tightned up the taper crimp, but it was sticking on the down stroke(lee and h...

Re: Using the Hornady Comparitor
I seat all my bullets to magazine length which means they could be quite a bit from the lands. Will sorting bullets to ogive make any difference in this case ? Seems most factory204 chambers are long, however they seem to shoot very well with plenty of bullet jump.Mine are all single shot, and shoot ...
