Re: 7mm Mag Question

My take on any particular caliber, is just not go below what the reloading manual states. If a certain rifle "kicks" to much for the shooter, than let that shooter or hunter invest in a recoil pad and that will solve all problems for the sum of around $25 to $35 dollars. I have 2 vest with...

Re: .204 ruger on a deer?

I will give you my take on shooting big game animals! It was instilled in my hunting soul many decades ago, the ithics of a man who could be called a phophet of the this sport we all know as hunting. The animal first off is to be respected! Secondly, we should always give thanks for the harvest to t...

Re: 270 WSM

Rick your a man after my own heart! I have several of those model 70 pre-64's in the vault and fancy everyone of them too. Now that is a nice looking model 70 you have pictured in your post! 8) I have a model 70 sporter in the .270 caliber and the wife has a stainless featherweight model 70 in...

Re: Savage bolt is stiff

Song Dog, I would take the bolt out of the rifle and look at it closely with a magnifying glass for anything that might look unusual, such as a burr etc. This you can polish down yourself, then a very slight bit of gun grease on the rail of the rifle (not much) and things should be good to go.

Re: New big game rifle. 338-06 AI

Bullfrog I have purchased several of those CZ rifles (mostly the wifes) and I can tell you that every one is a very good shooter off the bench. CZ makes a quality rifle and their workmanship, metal work, wood to metal fit has gotten much better over the last 4 years. Good Luck hunting with your new ...

Bird Dogs!

I love to hunt Upland Birds! However, it is real hard to do so without a good dog or couple of good BIRD DOGS right? Well, yesterday the wife and I were a little on edge while in our home because one of our bird dogs, Greta was giving birth to her puppies. She dropped 3 of those little rascals 22 mi...

Re: Summer Snake Medicine

Rick I gotta agree with you once again! Yep, the JUDGE will NEVER win a beauty contest that for sure. I handled my first one this summer, when trying to teach a fellow how to shoot. The gunstore sold this pistol to him as a CCW weapon......Geez! :eew:  I raise a few dogs and thought it would b...

Re: Do I get a Schmidt or 2 Nikon Monarch Tacticals?

I must agree with Wrangler John on this subject matter! I looked at a lot of rifle scopes and compared dollars and cents to what I needed and what I was actually getting. I found those Nikon's hard to beat in glass! I just very well could have brought 2 of them home myself the day the wife and I wer...

Re: Bushnell trophy 4X12 recticle?

DonInva..........there seems to be a difference in those pictures you posted! The 12 power seems brighter and sharper, slightly more magnification, which is better than the other way around. If you can see it plainly, you can hit the target. :)

Re: Bushnell trophy 4X12 recticle?

Gentlemen I took a real hard look at some rifle scopes here a short time back and came to my wits about how to spend my hard earned dollars and come away with what I needed in scoping 4 varmint/predator rifles for he wife and I. I have been purchasing Leupold products for the last 15 years or so and...

Re: Optics comparisons

Surfclod......It sometimes can be very trying to actually compare rifle scopes or even Bino's to one an other! I do business with a couple of stores that will let you take the rifle scope, (2 at a time) outside the store and look far off on the hillside in order to compare, Sharpness, Brightness, Fo...

Re: HUSKEMAW OPTIC

I personally think that they are way over priced! Lets face facts shall we, how many hunters are going to go after a bull elk, knowing they are going to be shooting 800 yards. This is rubbish in the first place or perhaps I should say just "barber shop talk" as Jim Carmichel stated over 10...

Re: + P ammo

Sniper, I will only say, that in a combat situation the extra power can be a plus, however it may be more than you or anyone else can handle, thus your accuracy might become infringed upon. The other issue would be something another poster brought up and that is muzzle flash, especially at night in ...
