Re: .308win 155 g A-Max for hunting Deer?
I used to have a profound theory on bullets striking big game animals once upon a time! However, as I got more and more into ballistics, shooting more and more animals and testing various bullets, I soon found out that causing big shallow holes on larger animals, was not the ticket to get me ...

Re: Savage accuracy
Those that I have talked to in the last few years, have rifles that cost a lot of money compared to a factory Savage, Ruger, Kimber, Winchester, Remington production rifle. Those guys spend at least $3000 dollars upward and the scope is another $1000 or more. Not to mention that if your rifle can no...

Re: Summer Snake Medicine
I have come to the conclusion, that it can be hard to hit a poisonous snake with a single bullet from your handgun! Well, if you are carrying one of those New JUDGE'S, especially the one with the 3 inch chamber in .410 gauge loaded up with #6 shot, your good to go for hunting of rattlesnakes, or any...

Re: Savage Predator Pkg 204
I would like to ask you what type of rifle scope is on top that savage in the post? How far are you away from the big city of St. Louis MO? Also did you purchase this rifle new and what model is this rifle please? I am also curious as to the accuracy of the rifle from the bench! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Second Heavy Varmint rifle 22-250 or 6.5mm
I built one of those 6.5/06's after having so much good fortune with a .338/06 rifle I put together prior. I can always get plenty of 06 cases at our gunclub and the price is dirt cheap....2 Beers! I like the idea of having a dual purpose long range predator rifle for coyotes and still be able to hu...

Re: New big game rifle. 338-06 AI
I can tell you up front that the .338-06 will do anything that it's big brother will do out to 250 yards or maybe even further. I put one together a couple of years ago out of my worn out 30-06 model 70 Winchester. It will hold true for 3 shots (really all I would ever need) before it walks the 4th ...

Re: Another win for us...
This is indeed great news for all those who have the CCW like the wife and I. We plan on taking the motorhome around to several of the national parks like we did 25 years ago. This time I can do so legally praise the LORD!

Re: 45 GAP - opinions?
Now finding ammo for a 45GAP is not going to be easy in other places you go......You better be able to load your own with a GAP. I have always like the 45acp as a STOPPER ROUND, even if others contest those words and say the 45acp is not a stopper. I been shooting a model 1911 since the early 60's a...

Re: Home Varmint Defense
Rick nice handgun for sure! I do love my 3 Kimbers but I have gone to using the Glock Model 21-SF in conjuction with my Glock model 29 in 10mm. In this house we do as they do in South Africa, where I go the handguns go and that includes the dinner table or the toilet. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Re: Carry handgun for calling predators in case a cougar attacks
I suppose I can give an opinon on stopping a big cat, since I have hunted them a few times. Now first off I can tell you to FORGETABOUT any 9mm Luger caliber handgun, just for starters. If you want something to stop a big cat or bear you might encounter on a trail hiking or biking, you need a lot mo...

Re: Hunting boot advice
I have worn Irish Setter work boots for over 25 years! They were tops at the kind of work I did as a young man......construction. However, when it came to elk hunting in the high country, I wanted a couple of pairs of boots that would stand up to the rugged terrain and conditions as well. I choose D...
