Re: Reticle Pros and Cons
I would have to concur with some of the things that Rick posted. While an excellent tactical reticule, the hunter's metooism that followed the USMC adoption of the Mil-Dot was a case of brain being overrun by the hype. I can still see Prairie Rats sitting out at 700 yards with a 30 power variable wi...

Re: scope or shooter
Sounds like you could possilby be out of travel. Crank the scope back the other direction both windage and elevation. This may not be the problem, but if it is then you probably have a mounting problem. Lateral shifting may also be the result of rifle tilting, or inconsistent hold pressure. Try doin...

Re: Scope Ring Help Needed
Scope ring selection is a bigger problem than it might appear at first blush. Most (all?) scope problems can be traced to scope rings and or base selection/installation. This can result from tolerance stacking or just plain sloppy workmanship. Luckily, in most cases it is the former. For reference, ...

Re: First time loading 1000 duplicate rounds.
Small brass and primers handling drives me knuts. I don't like the repetitive handling of that small jewelry when dealing with large quantities. However, for precision performance I do like using competition dies for seating. Therefore a solution I learned from AMU internet postings was to use my Di...

Re: Scope for S&W 629 Six inch stainless.
I have virtually the same set up on my 629 as far as mounts as you have on your 648. I think the 2x version of the scope you have would be better on a magnum. I consider it a 50 to 100 yard hunting gun. I think the silver finish would be good. That old weaver is real stainless, and it seemed fine 30...

Scope for S&W 629 Six inch stainless.
I currently have a Weaver 2x Stainless scope that I have had for 30 years on that pistol. Now I got it out recently to test loads, and frankly the scope is terrible. Too long of eye relief for Weaver position, small tolerance for miss alignment resulting in occlusions from same. Low resolution scope...

What to do? PLAN B
Like many others, I regret this site closing with it very excellent membership.
I hope that a solution can be found, but if not I suggest you might peruse the following site as an alternative:
http://precisionlongrangehunter.com/
The forum there is similar, but different.

USO 3.8-22x58 Ballistics Knob.
http://www.usoptics.com/get_image.php?uid=KNB-1610 I will do the calculations for my MOA/MOA Scale scope and have the estimated range settings engraved on this scope knob, or a new one the same as this. One Rev of the elevation knob on the erek is 22.5 MOA. More to follow after I do the calculation...

Drug out my Model 77/44 Ruger
Since I am currently reloading 44 and 357 revolver carts, I drug out my M77/44. Only problem is I can't remember where the bolt release is. I know about the three position safety, buy I don't know how to pull the bolt. With full power .44 Mag loads that thing is formidable. Recoil like a .45/70 leve...

Re: Pdog/Varmint Scope
Lately, I have had to revise my opinion of Leupold. I really like some of the changes they are making to their top of the line scopes. 30mm tubes, a few FFP configurations, custom reticles and knobs are showing that they are listening, although I wonder how much of it is being driven by military spe...

Re: Reloading HK USP 45 issues
In my opinion, line of least resistance is the 230 grain FMJ Round nose. Recoil operated pistols tend to be a little sensitive. You may have head spacing issues or power issues or something as simple as a die adjustment for crimping. All loading dies should have ability to taper crimp on .45 ACP sea...

Re: Colt: A fair deal?
Well, got to fire the Colt this week end. Loaded up a couple of hundred .38 Spl 125 gr Montana Gold HP with Winchester 231 and small pistol standard primers for a MV of about 950 fps. This give about half the energy 70% of the energy of the typical .45 ACP with FMJ. Not too bad for a light target ro...

Re: Ruger 22/45 four inch bull barrel.
The ruger has a significant advantage over browings and S&W and others in that it has no slide. This makes easy to fit rails and sights to the pistol as shown above. Very fine pistols and one of Bill Rugers (who many regard as a firearms genius) earliest designs. Shown below with after market si...
