Re: Leupold & Nightforce Endorsement by IBA/Blackwater

as "the only scopes that will box perfectly" and suitable for our military 1. Did they disclose if this was a paid endorsement? 2. I guess that means that S&B, Zeiss Military, and others can't build a scope with accurate erector motion. (What a bunch of unadulterated bovine excrement!...

Re: New USMC Sniper Rifle XM3

Only main gripe I have heard from the interent gossip queens is the 18.5" barrel. I don't know about suppressors at all but does that add to barrel length in terms of losing velocity at all? My analysis indicates that all this new gear and fast deployment thereof are a result of recent experie...

Re: Shepherd Scopes

Let me say this. Dan Shepherd is a nice guy. I own one of his scopes with a .22 RFM reticle in it. Having said that, he had an idea several years ago that was interesting and thought provoking. His scopes have both front and rear focal plain reticles, which allows him to have too separate motions i...

Re: CZ - keep it or trade it?

My personal opinion is that you need to do a little more work on your loads. Try different bullets and primers. My rifle will shoot .5 to .6 groups all day long with a load it likes, but wrong bullet and suddenly I'm looking at 1.2" So don't give up yet. That is a really good choice in the opin...

Re: Opinions Wanted - Ballistic Software

Rick, As you know I am a big fan of Horus. They have offered chip for hand held pda that you enter ballistics data into and take it with you. If you have weather meter like Kestrel 4000, you can change information on fly. Also generates therefore a local come up chart for existing atmospheric condit...

Re: New Leupold Mark 2 Scopes

This makes a lot of sense in my opinion, and is the same approach that Nikon camera lenses takes. For example they have four levels of 35-70 zoom lenses ranging in price from $300 to $1500. This way from Susan to Pro-Journalism, you have a product that fits the needs of the user, and provides the qu...

Re: Barrel Quality????

Dave, If you've got "the wants" for a No.1, bite the bullet, buy the 204, and figure on putting in a Kipplinger, Canjar, or Jewell trigger and be done with it....... Well, I did just that. Needed Leupold higher rings to put one of my 3.2-17x44/58 SN-3 Lit Mil-dot 30mm tube on it. N...

Re: Kimber Custom Shop Service

That S&W 1911 shown is a factory picture of one of a total of 10 pieces executed by their custom shop. Last report from their site there is one or two left. Price was $10K. Too rich for my blood, and these things are for S&W collectors in any event.

Re: Kimber Custom Shop Service

If/when you come for squirrels next year, I think you ought to load up the rifles and drive her up here. You'd probably get here faster in it than some overbooked/late plane anyway! Based on my experience if you do, be sure you put the bug shields on your front bumper. Oh, and talking about c...

Re: Barrel Quality????

I just looked at another Ruger #1 in .204 at another gun store. Price was a little under $800 which is not bad in today's world. This time the salesman volunteered, that in his experience that the larger calibers like .458 and .375 shoot really well, but recently there has been difficulty with getti...

Re: what should i get for a gun

I have a custom built M700 with a #7 pattern Lilja on it. Shoots really well. Then for the fun of it I purchased a M700 VSSF in .204. Fine rifle, but walk around weight barrel heats really fast with medium hot hand loads. Now I see the VSSF II has come out with a heavier barrel, at least it appears ...

Barrel Quality????

This weekend while in Oregon I stopped at a well known Gun Store in the Portland Area, and was looking at a Ruger Single Shot rifle. The store owner advised me to consider CZ instead as Ruger Rifles have a reputation for poor quality barrels and accuracy. Does Ruger have poor barrels or just a publi...
