Leica BRF on Squirrels

Went squirrel hunting sometime back with party here on site (Note Bench!), and had first opportunity to try 8x BRF Leica.

Worked extremely well in team with Custom 700 .204. This has got to be in the Top 10 all time great glass!

Re: Sako M-995/ McMillan A-5 stock (pics)

That was one of the first production numbers made for the Winchester CFA WSM action, so it took a little longer to get it, but well worth the wait in my view. (About 3-4 months if I recall correctly.) Actually took longer to get 28" Lilja 3 groove than it did to get the stock.

The A-5 is a remarkable stock in my opinion. Here is a 7WSM Non-Ruger on one.

Re: Barrel Quality????

Took it to the gravel pit and shot it out of the window of truck with window rest at about 75 yards, just to get it on the paper. Fired 10 rounds or so and now need to clean it.

Seemed to shoot a little over an inch without touching Hick's tuner. That is next from bench rest. Seems promising so far.

Leupold 3.5-14x50 VX-7 30mm Riflescope

Some of you know that I only buy one brand of scope (USO), however today while at the gun store picking up Leupold 30mm rings for my .204 Ruger #1, I had a chance to fondle the subject scope. I must say I was impressed. Even out the window (bad idea because you add the distortion of the window to th...

Re: US Supreme Court Hearing on Heller.

thinking we were going to carry around RPGs and machine guns
You know I just bet there's some importer sitting on a warehouse, just waiting for the law to change so he so he can fill the gun stores with them.

Of course, sometimes I wax a little bit cynical!

Re: new scope (or new to me)

Parallax is a useful tool when shooting at longer ranges. The scales printed on scopes should be treated as a general guide. To adjust it focus on the target at range and while looking at the target move your head up and down. If the point of impact in the scope changes select a different setting un...

Re: Bright and Shinny?

Here, if you want to have some fun print out the following and put it down range. See how many lines you can resolve at what size. Useful for comparing two scopes as well:

Re: Bright and Shinny?

Yes, of course matte and shiny. Oops, I misspelled them. Please feel free to correct my spelling anytime. :D What brought this up is that I looked at a Winchester Scope the other day that appeared bright and clear. Amazing at first blush and only $49.95. Then I looked at a dollar bill the guy had ta...

Bright and Shinny?

Humorously, I am just waiting for a Black mat finished scope to be characterized by the term "Bright and Shinny." I see "clear and bright", "Crystal Clear", etc used when what I sure they are attempting to describe is Contrast and Resolution. This is not of course a cri...

Re: NightForce Through the Lens

You know it occurs to me (perhaps rather humorously) that your test proceedure is a fairly decent test of your camera optics, given the general improvement in scope glass of late.
