Re: SUCCESS! .204 ruger on a deer. [pictures]
Can you remember why so many people said using a 204 for dear was a dumb idea? Because it is likely to cause unnecessary pain and suffering to the animal. You see, redtwo, it is normal for human beings to feel compassion and empathy for animals. The rest of us here hate seeing animals in pain. In th...

I'm not sure what "pinned" means, but that is the first time this whole issue has made sense to me.
Thanks Fred.

Re: Steve from Australia
Welcome aboard the 204 wagon Steve. There are plenty of cautionary tales from 204 addicts here, ..."I know I already have 4 rifles in 204, but...". So don't say we didn't warn you. I had heard that it was a regulatory requirement that a minimum of .22 calibre was used for roo harvesting? O...

Re: Where are all the Tikka's in 204 Ruger.
Whoah!! Ease up there fella's, we're all friends here right? I think I have some solutions to pretty up the Tikka, but unlike BCB's ladies the solution to ugliness is to remove plastic. First, the bolt shroud. http://www.hss.net.au/product_info.php?cPath=118&products_id=533 Seen more clearly her...

Re: Where are all the Tikka's in 204 Ruger.
Hi Mike, I posted the info below a while ago, but it is still relevant and I think confirms some of your comments. In hindsight I would get the super varmint for the adjustable cheek piece, I would be more comfortable with it. The stock is "plasticy", but it is also very stiff and I don't ...

Re: Should I go.
I'm up to my neck in work, struggling to stay afloat and the boss keeps handing me lead weights.
If I send you a CV, could you pass it on to your boss for me?
Have a great trip, you lucky SOB.

Re: 204 muzzle breaks
Remington have a model in 204 that has an integral muzzel brake. Maybe the one with the triangular barrel??
I read an article about it somewhere. If I can find it later I will post the reviewers comments for ya.

You had it right last time this discussion went around, Wrangler John.
"Heck, I killed 'em with the bumper of a '62 Ford Country Sedan, but that don't make it a deer rifle."
Still chuckling...

Re: Cooper model 21 or others?
Very attractive setup!
I might have to look into how I can get a Cooper down to this side of the world.
Just looked at the photo's again, real nice.

Re: Holo or Red Dot sight on a .22 Lever action?
Cheers Rick, I think I will do some further research and try and find a Weaver base adaptor and a holo sight for the 9422. The holo sight appeals to me more than the red dot, just because I want to get away from looking down a "tube". Good point about adjustable reticle intensity though. I...

Re: Shooting Advice and Technique
You may already do this, but carry a fox whistle with you (I just use a $2 "button" whistle). 9 times out of 10 a blow on this will get a fox to stop and have another look back. This may ease some of the mental pressure on getting the first shot away and help you be more relaxed. Also, tak...

Holo or Red Dot sight on a .22 Lever action?
I have a Winchester 9422 that I was thinking of putting a Holo or red dot (is there a difference?) sight on. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of set up? I only use the .22 for shooting up to 50 yards, max, but most shots are at 20-30 yds. After all, I do have a .204! A lot of my shooti...

Re: Shooting Advice and Technique
Hi Griff, The way I look at misses is that it is either me or my equipment. I am sure you have your equipment in order, but given that you sight it in during the day without glasses and shoot at night with them, perhaps this affects your point of impact. Maybe you could set up a target at night and ...
