Re: choosing a bullet and powder for .204 please help
I have had great luck with Benchmark powder in all my small caliber rifles. I also use SBK 32 and 39 grain and Nosler 40 grain BT. So give the Benchmark a try. In my Cooper 204 I use 28.0 Benchmark with a 32 grain SBK to give me a .19" group at 100 yds at 4055 fps. In my CZ 527 Varmint 204 I us...

Re: New Acquisition and Question
I agree. Each gun will shoot differently based on floating, contact, and the barrel itself. I have a CZ 527 but in Varmint. It had a great 5 shot group in a cold barrel. After that, it would take a 1/4" group and make it a 1" group. So I used a dowel rod and some 220 grit sandpaper to EVEN...

Re: 204 cooper
Mine is a touch stiff on the lift (solid feeling action). Rest is as smooth as a baby's behind! Gotta love a Cooper! Oh, and like Rick said, PICTURES!!!!

Re: inconsistent F/L sizing
Well, I switched to a Redding die and so far, I haven't had a problem. Maybe it's just a coincidence though. I'm going to call RCBS in the morning and see if they can offer me a reason/replacement to why this happened.

Re: inconsistent F/L sizing
Ok, here's what I am gettin confused on though. I took one of the pieces of brass that was fired out of the CZ and tried to cycle it in the Cooper. Wouldn't fit (Big surprise). So I played with the sizer die until it did fit. So technically, shouldn't all brass fit then once sized in that die? And w...

inconsistent F/L sizing
I'm attempting to get 1,000 rounds prepped and ready for a PD hunt and I came across a problem. I had purchased some Hornady once fired brass from someone and am F/L resizing it now. Approx 1/15 will not cycle in my Cooper (bolt will not lock down without a TON of force). I haven't tried any of the ...

do barrel contours affect consistency?
I am looking into adding a Green Mountain barrel onto my all weather 77/22. After looking at what is available, I realized that Green Mountain no longer makes the .920 bull barrel for the 22LR. They only offer the fluted sporting contour. Now I'm not sure this is a bad thing because I don't really w...

Re: barrel for my 10/22
Ray P Well, I have some bulk Federals, CCI Mini Mag's, Eley's, and Wolf Match Extra. So I have somewhat of a variety to try from. The barrel wasn't as tight as I had expected. Don't get me wrong, it didn't just "slide" right in. But I put the receiver in a padded vice and applied some pre...

Re: barrel for my 10/22
I finished the 10/22 build (except for a scope). It includes a Green Mountain 20" SS Fluted Bull Barrel, Bell & Carlson Anschutz Thumbhole stock with grey webbing, Volquartsen target hammer and spring, KID scalloped bolt with KID firing pin and extractor, KID bolt buffer, and KID charging h...

Re: grouping worsens as scope power increases?
Thank you!
The VX-I 2-7x doesn't have an adjustable. But the parallax is set for 60 yards. So if I'm shooting at something that's 25 yards (squirrel, target, etc...) will I have the same problem? Or will I just have to leave it on a smaller magnification like 2 or 4x?

grouping worsens as scope power increases?
I have been told that variable power scopes are not as consistent as a fixed power scope. However, my buddy and I went out a little while back to my range with his Marlin 22LR. He has a Simmons 3x9 scope on it and we were using Federal ammo. When sighting in at 50 yards on 4x, the group was approxim...

Re: barrel for my 10/22
Well, change of plans! I ordered the Green Mountain 20" SS Fluted Target Barrel and I went with the Bell and Carlson Anschultz Thumbhole Black with Grey webbing. I will put pics up as soon as I get it all slapped together. I was going to put a new hammer on as well but the funds are gettin a li...
