Hey guys, I have my order in for cleaning supplies, a die, comparator tools, etc. and I was going to start with some heavier bullets....... so, besides the Sierra 39g, what is the next most accurate bullet in the 40g range in your opinion?
Thanks

Re: Reloading basics
I switched to XBR 8208 for all 204 loads in three guns(all 1:12) 32gr Varmageddon and 39 SBKs.Clean as you suggest.I use a forster neck bushing die + a Redding body die when needed.Have fun. Joe do you find that the standard 3 bushings in that set cover most of your needs for your neck sizing die? ...

Reloading basics
OK, my Remington 700 SPS Varmint 26" is on its way and I'm trying to plan how to test loads for it. I have a few basic questions: I thought I'd try some 30 grain and some 39 grain factory ammo to see what my rifle likes....... Is it a total guessing game predicting which my rifle would prefer? ...

Re: Remington 700 SPS Varmint 26" experiences
After much deliberation on whether this is the right rifle for me, just before my head was about to explode, I completed an order. I looked at some laminated thumbholes and triggers but my smith wants to see how it shoots before messing with it. I'm undecided on how long I want to keep it as a 204.....

Re: Remington 700 SPS Varmint 26" experiences
Is your 26" Bull barrel the original factory? Do you expect 1/2" groups? Thank you for the post

Remington 700 SPS Varmint 26" experiences
I have an opportunity to pick up one of these new at a very good price. Would you mind telling me about yours? Of course I'm wondering about accuracy, as well as how picky it is with different loads, factory loads etc.
Thank you
Thank you

I'm looking at this rifle for BR paper punching and PD shooting, did you get one? Accuracy?

Re: 204 or another donor to eventually convert to 20VT
Words taken to heart, Jim.
17 Fireballs are very uncommon but 221s are still around. Plus, Todd Kindler tells me he has gobs of 221 brass even though traditional sources are often backordered, so I'm narrowing down on looking for this rifle.
Thanks for the help!

Re: 204 or another donor to eventually convert to 20VT
I'd like to hear a bit more about your intended shooting. Mike I don't think your advice is overpriced at all. Even if I paid you a beer for it! Intended use for this rifle would be primarily paper punching or target shooting. My daughter of 13 has expressed interest in shooting for the first time ...

Re: 204 or another donor to eventually convert to 20VT
Yikes, Jim, your post beat me to the punch! Thank you for clarifying what I have heard. Funny Todd Kindler didn't mention any of these issues when I talked to him today. In your opinion would I be losing much accuracy if I were to start with a CZ? Trigger quality of CZ vs. Remington 700? I like the ...

Re: 204 or another donor to eventually convert to 20VT
So the other donor rifle chambers would be 222 remington, 17 fireball? I don't know much about bolts but some say non-221 fireball actions have a different bolt and different extractor; some people but maybe not all people have extracting and feeding issues if they don't start with a fireball donor ...

204 or another donor to eventually convert to 20VT
First post here; great forum. I shoot and reload a 6.5 Grendel, and would like to get into 20 caliber shooting....... both to shoot with my daughter, as well to go PD shooting in MT and WY. The guys I'd go with all shoot 17cal and think the one guy in the group who shoots a 204 is a bit loud and obn...
