Re: 204 Maximum Effective Range
...One more question is the 57gr bullet requiring a thighter twist than 8  Not sure, Varoum. You might call Todd Kindler @ The Woodchuck Den and talk to him about it. He's sort of the Oracle for all things .20 cal. I'm just curious...if one wants to shoot 1000 yds (or further) with a 204, woul...

Re: 204 Maximum Effective Range
If you have long enough a barrel and tight enough a twist, you should be able to easily drive a 55-gr Berger to more than 3000 fps, which will remain supersonic to about 1000 yards. Almost 1100 with a near-max pressure load. How long should the barrel be? Berger recommeded twist is 8. Who shoots 55...

Re: 32 gr Sierra BKs keyholing, problem with bullet or with
...Yeah Fred, they are perfect side profiles of the bullet.... Dayum. I do IT stuff for a living. When I'm running down the source of a problem, if the evidence doesn't give me enough clues, I just resort to swapping known good components for suspect ones. The problem always ALWAYS follows the bad ...

Re: 32 gr Sierra BKs keyholing, problem with bullet or with
Are you talking full-fledged hitting the target broadside keyholing or just somewhat oblong holes keyholing?

Re: Tumbler Media
I hate it when those magnets fly over! It's a well known fact that the SR-71 Blackbird uses such a magnet to read people's minds from great heights above. To thwart such government antics, I ALWAYS wear hats made from aluminum foil.... I did, too, until I learned first hand they just didn't w...

Re: Tumbler Media
Stainless steel is DA BOMB! Cleans an polishes everywhere inside and out (except sometimes a tiny ring at the base of the primer pocket). And the media lasts forever unless you lose it or somebody steals it or a giant electromagnet flies over your house. The only real downside, IMHO, is dealing with...

There's a .20 adapter available for the Hornady (formerly Stoney Point) comparator.

Re: Outside neck turning?
sharptailhunter, if you'll excuse me not directly answering your question, I tried neck turning for a while. I definitely had better consistency but the process was a PITA to me (I'm the guy who got "Cs" in Jr Hi shop class), then I discovered Lee collet neck sizing dies. I never compared ...

Re: FPS spread
It depends a lot on the range, the size of your target and your standards. With a 178-gr A-Max, 75 fps makes about two feet difference in POI @1000 yards.

Re: Superperformance powder
ryutzy, that's about 200 fps more than I get out of a 70-gr SMK in my .243 WSSM with RL-19.
Warm indeed!

Re: What load to start with for Rem SPS Varmint
Crazy Train, I have a Savage 12 with a 26" barrel, which is why I believe you'll find an accuracy node within spittin' distance of 4000 fps, provided you're driving the 32-gr Nosler with RL-10X. I get there with 26.2 grains and CCI BR4 primers but I'm shooting hBN-coated bullets. You'll probabl...

Re: Using bullet puller on .204
I've used a kinetic bullet puller on 32-gr .204 loads. Got to beat the ever-loving snot out of them. Much worse if you're pulling the bullet because you forgot the charge. Which is why I bought an RCBS collet bullet puller.
