Re: New to the forum Having a problem with my 204
The Calhoon "slick silver" bullets should reduce copper fouling. Can't say about powder residue. The thing about regular (non-slick silver) coated bullets is that a bit of the coating rubs off on the barrel 's bore making it slicker, too, up until the time when the bore is as slick as the ...

Re: New to the forum Having a problem with my 204
Shooting coated bullets (moly, WS2 or hBN) will reduce the cleaning interval. It also reduces barrel walk so on both counts, coated bullets are ideal for varmint shooting.

Re: Checking loads 3 vs. 5 shot groups .204's ONLY
Dunno where I first heard this -- I think it was a Cooperism -- but they saying goes, "A 3-shot group is a test of the accuracy of the rifle. A 5-shot group is a test of the accuracy of the rifleman."

Re: 204 muzzle breaks
...I never considered they might make the report get reflected back to the shooter or bystanders.... You're diverting gasses that are moving faster than the speed of sound 90° from the path of the bullet. Along with the hot gas, there's also a shock wave coming out of those ports. Shock waves do...

Re: Checking loads 3 vs. 5 shot groups .204's ONLY
I can't put my hand on it at the moment but a few weeks ago I came across a website where a guy was analyzing statistical analysis methods for shot groups (analysis^2?). One of his conclusions was that if you were testing up to and including nine rounds, you should shoot them all at one target. Ten ...

Re: Ear plugs
The best noise attenuating foam ear plugs are closed cell polyurethane. So long as they match that construction and material, I don't think there's much difference between brands. These kind are available at Wally World as well as most every drug store. Just check the label and make sure they're pol...

Re: BARREL LENGTH?
...Thanks for giggling your QL for the 70gr. Ideally, i'd like a 20" barrel,70gr bullet, zeroed @ 50yds and 200yds and around +1" @ 100yds. I live in hope. :D Thanks to both of you,Ken. Glad to help. QuickTarget says a 70gr SMK [1505] will need 3600 fps to be +1.0" @100 and +0.1"...

Re: BARREL LENGTH?
I have a .243 WSSM with a 22" 1:10 barrel. I'm planning on replacing it with a 20" 1:9 aftermarket barrel. According to QuickLoad, the 2" shorter barrel will cost my 100-grain deer load about 50 fps but it probably will be a tad more accurate. Just for giggles, I changed it to .243 Wi...

Re: longest kill to date for new rig!
376 yards?? I didn't think it was that far from Land's End to John O'Groats!! Seriously, that is a killer shot, no pun intended. I have acquaintances who are fanatical -- and quite proficient -- crow hunters and I don't think any of them can boast of a shot further than 350 yards. That is tru...

Re: Height adjustable rolling utility table for $20
My portable reloading bench is on a Husky X-Table. It isn't height-adjustable but it folds flat to transport. I mounted my press on a piece of plywood, which I mount onto the X-Table with three quick grips. http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/catalog/17185155_4.jpg I got mine at ...

Re: I'm worried: 32 gr VMax
bow shot, what's the best accuracy you've seen from any load? Does it not shoot anything well? I have a Savage 12 in .204, and have come across several others in the same boat, and every last one of us has found the rifle to be uncommonly accurate and very tolerant of ammunition. That your rifle is ...

Re: Last day of Ohio crow season.
Fred: For those flying rats with your Beeman R9, try either the pointed Silver Ace for breast penetration, or even better, the Silver Bear HP. Hit 'em in the head or neck with those, and they expand intstantly for a good feathered flop.... I'm sure the pellet I'm using now would do the trick if I w...

Unless it's a protected document, you should be able to cut-n-paste the text (which, IMHO, is simpler/easier than posting a screenshot).

Re: Last day of Ohio crow season.
Hi Fred. There's no ignorance in that question. I use a 20ga 870 & shoot em on the wing. I have sniped a few with the 204 & 17HMR when out groundhoggin tho. My buds mostly use 220 Swifts and .22-250s. I just love the SPLASH of black feathers when a 50-grain pill clocking more than hal...
