Re: 34gn Nosler

I bought some nosler 34gn FBHP projectiles and just wanted to know if anyone was using them. I can’t find any info in my reloading manuals for example starting loads and max loads. Thanks Adam I don't find any detail at either the Nosler website or the usual reloading sites about a 34gr Nosl...

Re: trouble with consistent reloads

...As for the Lee collet neck sizing die, I thought for a semi-auto I needed to full length size each time and not just neck size.... My bad, your right ...but I wonder if you couldn't neck size with the Lee collet die, then body size every time and accomplish the same thing. The body die works the...

Re: trouble with consistent reloads

#1, do you have free-floating handquards? I shoot strictly 32-grainers but I have seen a lot of accounts from guys with 1:12 barrels that the 40-grainer was iffy. As noted above, many of them suggest trying the 39-gr SBK. As for runout, the cheapest, least fuss way to deal with it is to use a Lee co...

Re: Help - Serious pressure and ruined my bolt

When I first began using the Lee collet dies, I sometimes would find a round with a bullet seated a loose enough I could turn it with my fingers. I got lucky because I figured out what was going on before I'd managed to fire one with the bullet pushed back. I started testing every case after neck-si...

Re: i got growled at.

maybe there was more than one large reptile ? maybe that is why there was so many different reports ? Dunno. The reptile/dinosaur thing always has seemed unlikely because there are so few fish in the loch. It has very steep sides so the water gets real deep, deal quick. And cold. And dark. The peat...

Re: How to clean inside brass

I use stainless steel tumbling media, which polishes inside the primer pockets and inside the case until they shine like gold. Plus it lasts forever. You can get it at Stainless Tumbling Media dot Com or there's a guy selling it through the reloading section at Snipers' Hide dot Com . I got mine at ...

Re: i got growled at.

Mr. Bremner -- who I figure had the catbird seat -- said that every new "reliable" sighting or bit of evidence that came along always pointed in some completely different direction. I gather he found the whole situation equal parts amusing and frustrating.

Re: OCW Results, Please post

AC, before you shoot it again, I'd offer three suggestions. First, back the target off by at least 100 yards. Remember the goal of OCW is not to shoot tiny groups, the goal is to determine which area of the target(s) your groups tend to cluster around. You can more accurately determine where the cen...

Re: OCW Results, Please post

AC, I wrote a spreadsheet to do OCW analysis but it requires extensive measuring of the targets. Plus, I tried writing instructions so someone not fluent in Excel coud do it but that ended up being pretty hopelessly long and complex. Anyway, how many targets are you analyzing? Did the targets alread...

Re: i got growled at.

It was a mixed blessing. I started the trip a true believer and ended it thinking the only way you could ever see Nessie was looking through the bottom of an empty Scotch bottle. One of the things Mr. Bremner showed me was a full-frame print of "the Surgeon's photograph." Since 1934, only ...

Re: .204 sighting in distance

A 32-grain Nosler @4000 fps has a 1" max point blank range of 211 yards. Presuming your rifle shoots to 1 MoA, that means that you can zero at 200 yards and aim dead-on to any target 3" in diameter or larger out to 200 yards and squeeze the trigger, no calculations or hold-over necessary. ...

Re: lapping rings

If your rings have machining imperfections, little ridges, lips, bumps and the like, those flaws can cause tiny bending forces in your scope's tube, which affects the stability of the mount and the alignment of the optics. They make lapping bars which are steel rods with (allegedly) perfectly machin...

Re: 35 berger

Moly -- or any other bullet coating (moly, WS2 or hBN) -- will not affect your accuracy in itself. It will, however, allow you to have a longer shooting session without having to stop to swab your bore. This is because the coating from the bullet that sticks to the barrel slows the build-up of the c...
