Re: Sonic Cleaner or Tumbler
From the pictures I've seen on the web, it appears the rotary tumbler with stainless steel media and lemshine really does the trick, including the primer pockets. The downside, it has to be rinsed throughly and dried prior to use.... I use a Thumler Model B and SS media. The stuff comes out spectac...

Re: Loading for Accuracy Vs. Velocity
My Savage .204 shoots under an inch @200 yards with factory ammo. With handloads, it shoots 1/2". Or less. If I had satisfied myself with 0.5 MoA, I never would have discovered just how accurate that rifle truly is. And, yes, it cost me about 100 fps, from 4100 down to 4000. I'm an adherent to ...

Re: need help deciding on a new 204....
My Savage 12 Varminter Low consistently shoots under 1" @200 yards, and sometimes much better: http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/1228/r204target.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1528/wundertarget.jpg Both were shot @200 yards. The first group is 5/16". Despite the fact that I was monkey...

Re: H322 OR H335 for .204?
For 32-gr Noslers, I've had very good results with BL-C(2) and excellent with RL-10X.

I was serious about everything except the necked-down .50 BMG.

Re: Help on dies which to buy
jo191145, I guess the 26-gr Barnes was a bad example. With the 32-gr Nosler (my go-to bullet), I hit the lands with a seating depth of just 0.026". So I still can touch the lands, I just can't do it with one diameter's shank seating depth. I'd forgotten about the long throated Weatherbys. I've ...

Re: A New 20 cal round
There's .223 WSSM shooters driving 40-gr pills to 4500 fps and 55-grainers to 3800. And they get to use factory brass. If you're just looking for an exotic wildcat round, contact Todd Kindler and the Woodchuck Den. He can probably hook you up with a .50 BMG necked down to .20. http://1.bp.blogspot.c...

Re: Help on dies which to buy
"...bullet seating depth in .204 is less critical, with most chambers having long throats..." I am dubious. For starters, I know from the measurements I've taken, I should be able to load what I think is the shortest bullet on the market (26-gr Barnes) to a shank depth equal to the bullet...

Re: Help on dies which to buy
The setup I've gone to on everything I load is a Lee collet neck die and a Redding body die. The Lee collet die gives about 90% of the results of neck turning in terms of neck tension and concentricity at about 10% of the effort. Plus, it prolongs case live compared to FLS. I load a bullet that's ve...

Re: What am I doing wrong???
In almost every case when I've found my dies weren't giving me the result I'd expected, the problems is cured by fishing around in the bottom of the trash basket, finding the instructions and reading them. I usually only take this step after calling customer support and being told (in diplomatic ter...

Re: accuracy at 100 yards
...BC is directly connected to performance in wind because wind drift is directly related to the loss of velocity of the projectile. If the bullet did not slow down it would hit where it was aimed in spite of the wind. .... Completely wrong. The course of an airplane is affected by the wind, even t...

Re: accuracy at 100 yards
Fred, I think B.C. of bullet does matter. Different bullet configurations shot at same velocity will buck the wind better depending on their B.C. ifldned You're talking apples and oranges. Doping the wind is the shooter's responsibility, not the bullet's. Provided the shooter does his part, a bulle...

Re: accuracy at 100 yards
Presuming you can hold your PoA as accurately at 300 as at 100, 2/3rds".
