Re: 40 gr Bergers

I don't have a chrony. I may go for one someday though. Funny thing, the trajectory out to 300 y was identical tot he 32 gn Sierra SBKs... I rellay liked the idea a a 40 gn flying like 32, but packing that much more punch!

Re: 40 gr Bergers

I should mention also, that no one in my area carries them anymore... now I'm all about the 32 gn SBKs which group equally well, but I mess the Bergers...

Next time I have enough $ for a Midway order, I'm gonna stock up!!

Re: 40 gr Bergers

40 Bergers shot very well for me in 1:12 barrels: A Savage VLP (bull 26") and a Rock River AR15 (bull 24"). With either rifle, I could expect 0.5" without trying , and 0.3" when my shooting form was good. I only shoot bipod with a bag in back, and I'm not a very good shooter, lol...

Re: Bore snakes?

I like it for a quick wipe-down, and used to use one to "hold" solvent against the bore overnight. Can't say if that method was really good, its just what I did and it mads sense to me (?) That said, I seldom clean the barrel anymore, even though I'll put close to 1K shots on a barrel over...

Re: New upper question....

+1 on gauging it... I should have said that. Ie.: 1) For AR-15, the .223 bolt is the same one used for .204. 2) When you assemble an AR-15 upper, there is no (conventional) headspace adjustment. 3) However, its always BEST to confirm headspace with a headspace gauge... 'Cheap insurance that you asse...

Re: New upper question....

When I did the same search, it amounted to, no it doesn't matter. I think if you go on RRA's site, they sell the same BCG for .223, .204. My son did a lot of armorer work with 82nd airborne, and he said they just slapped 'em together (the 5.56's), and that's that, no bolt/barrel matching or headspac...
