Re: 2017 204 Ruger Five Shot Challenge
Well, I pretty much messed this one up. Showed up at the range and realized that I forgot my rear bag, so had to use my fist under the rear of the rifle for support. Yea, we all know how that turns out - this is with a load that confirmed less then a half inch at 100 during a pretty extensive load d...

Re: 22 Long Rifle - 200 yards?
For those in the So. Cal. area, we hold a long range .22 silhouette match every 5th Sunday at the Pala range (ncsapala.com). All rifles are welcome and must be chambered in 22 long rifle. Chickens (size of half dollars) are shot offhand at 50 yards, Pigs (size of 3x5 card) are at 100 yards and shot ...

Re: Cast bullets for the .204 Ruger
I cast for various .22's including a custom mold for .22 long rifle ( load black powder .22's for Cowboy Silhouette). Casting a 37 grain 224 bullet is tricky enough, I can't imagine trying to cast a 204 bullet! Talk about an exercise in frustration - but I suppose you could have a custom mold cut (n...

Re: Load for Nosler 40 BT
Here is my load development board using standard 3/4" price stickers for my Savage 12 using 40gr Noslers and RL10x. The target was shot at 100 yards - 5 shots each load, starting at 22 grains and working up 2 tenths at a time to 25 grains. In the end I settled on the load dead center - 23.8 gra...

Re: Nosler 40 grain balistic tip
My Savage 12 loves the 40gr Noslers. When I developed a load for it with RL10x (23.8gr) my best 5 shot group at 100 yards could be covered with a dime. I've got boxes of 39 and 32 grainers on the shelf, but have never bothered to try them since the Noslers work so well.

Re: whats your best load???
My tightest group - 40gr Nosler over 23.8gr RL10x in Remington brass and primer. 10 shots at 100 yards you can cover with a dime. This load knocks over the Varmint Rifle rabbit silhouettes at 600 yards.

Re: Postal shoot cancelled.
I've been spending so much time over on the silhouette sites that I too missed the due date. The response does not surprise me though - I tried to drum up interest in a postal shoot on a predator hunting board several months ago and got exactly two responses of interest. Maybe later this summer we b...

Re: 39Gr Blitzkings or 40Gr Vmax
Awesome group! My Savage really likes 40 grain Noslers, so I've standardized on them. Last weekend I made up a load development board (18 dots on a board in 6 inch squares) and shot 5 shot groups at each dot, starting at the beginning recommended load of RL10x - all the way up to the max load in 2 t...

Re: Coming Soon.....32gr Nosler BTLF
Nosler 40 grainers shoot excellent out of my Savage 12 BTCSS. 23.8 grains of RL10x shoots five shot clover leafs @ 100 yards off a rest, and I'm real happy with that. I'll have to work up a 32 grain load when these become available.

Re: Stupid move, need help.
There really is no need to punch out live primers, I'm sure it is a "Not Recommended Practice". You can just spin out the de-priming pin from the sizing die and resize the case normally.

Re: 45 GAP - opinions?
45 GAP - A solution looking for a problem. A worthless attempt by Glock to come up with a new round in my opinion, but then again I'm also a 45 ACP diehard - 3 1911's & a P220 - all fed the same diet.

Re: Hornady 32 gr VMAx funky tips
I used to buy factory seconds when the Sierra factory was in the Los Angeles area (santa fe springs), and used them for punching paper. They all shot the same as the expensive boxes I used to hunt with. Most of the defects I found then were simply blemishes or slightly misformed spitzer points - the...
