Re: Neck sizing issues...

As mentioned, strange that it would need the shoulder bumped so soon. You may want to measure the rifle's headspace via the fired brass and consider investing in a body die just for shoulder bumping when/if needed to save the necks from oversizing/overworking the brass.

Re: weighing brass

Being a "benchrester", I sort my brass by weight after prepping and trimming. It gives me peace of mind when I'm pulling the trigger and that alone may be why I get some nice tight groups, who knows. I just got in a batch of RP 204 cases from Grafs. I was amazed at the weight consistency, ...

Re: aftermarket stocks for a savage 12fv

For an economical stock, take a look at the B&C Duramaxx. I've used the Duramaxx for a number of builds and really like it for field/tactical use. I routinely epoxy bed mine.

Re: Primer of Choice?

The CCI 450s work fine in all the 204 loads I've tested. I switched over to them because, for some reason BR-4s are hard to get in my area. Gacop, Iam working up some loads using the CCI 450's as well. Question, are you loads near max-charge? I think alot of the loads are worked up not using the Ma...

Re: Scales...Whats are we using?

My PACT started acting up six months after I bought it, fluctuating all over the place with nothing on the platen. Would not rezero so beware of their poor quality. Older ones seem to be better quality than what they have now.

Re: Trip down memory lane...........

GaCop...thanks for sharing. I picked up a real cherry 686 a few years back. Don't shoot it much but she sure is a real sweet heart. I've had a couple get away that I wish I had back; One was a S&W Model 57, recessed cylinder, pinned barrel, bright blue in a wood presentation case. I parted with...

Gotta say though, in my limited experience, those Lee collet dies are as good or superior to Reddings type S bushing neck sizers. And for far less $$.

Re: holding a group at range

Try a Lee collet die. The collet die gives me excellent low neck runout when I use it. I believe your accuracy would also improve if you got away from that gawd awful Hornady brass. I use fully prepped Winchester. GaCop, I have a friend @ the Gun Club that is using the Hornady Brass with good succe...

Don't chuck the Hornady brass. I've got a bunch that I use to experiment with. It's good test brass to practice annealing with, practicing primer pocket reaming, die set ups, etc. :)
+1, good use for it.
