Re: Painted Another Stock Tonight

How do you do the "spiderweb" on these stocks? Fantastic job, by the way.

Loading Goof-up - DOH!

Hello all, Well, I'm still waiting on my scope rings for the new rifle, haven't even shot it yet. In the mean while I just started loading up with my new brass, and just realized that I goofed up the first 25 rounds. After they've all been completely loaded and seated, I noticed that I'd been loadin...

Re: Winchester Model 70

Those are two awesome photos, Rick. There's a strong conveyance of satisfaction in the second one with the 338-06, and I really can't imagine a better elk round/gun combo. Last night at our Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet the grand prize was a Winchester 70 in .325 WSM. It was perfectly balanc...

Re: New Brass - Stuck Case

Wow, I guess I was missing something... lol. Good thing you set me straight before I start my barrel break-in process with extra copper fowling. That wouldn't be good. Thanks again, Rick.

Re: First ND Coyote

Here's another picture of a different place we did a calling set. A couple packs howled and barked back at us, but these muleys were the only ones to show up.

First ND Coyote

I thought you all might enjoy the scenery where my first North Dakota coyote was taken. A couple weeks ago a friend took me out where he hunts coyotes. I brought another friend’s Remington 700 VL-SS in .204. The story for this coyote isn’t very exciting since this one didn’t com...

Re: New Brass - Stuck Case

Is neck sizing virgin brass even necessary? I'm a day or two from getting my .204 dies, and I just assumed they'd be like my 6mm. Reloading winchester brass with my 6mm, I never resized the virgin brass in any way. The brass fits in the gun, and the bullets won't seat in the brass without the seatin...

WTB .204 bore cleaning guide

Hello,
I'd like to buy a .204 bore cleaning guide. I forgot to get it on my Midway USA order, and shipping would be another $13 if I order just a guide from them. If anyone's got one sitting around I can do paypal. Thanks!

Re: World record elk--(if you say so)

I know this thread is a little old, but I just got on the forum and have to add my two cents. As I get close to finishing my first year as a Conservation Officer (game warden) I've already lost all interest in trophy status. After seeing the great lengths (illegal and/or unethical) that people go th...

Re: Pronghorn rig fit for action.

CVM, That is indeed a perfect set-up. Your Cooper has a great combination of beauty and practicality. I think that after the pronghorn hunt you'll also have to take it on a sheep hunt, a muley hunt, and even a mountain goat hunt... to help justify the getting the perfect gun, ofcourse. And great pic...

Re: What is the most Fur-friendly bullet?

Thanks guys, I guess I'll be forced to try them all.. :D darn. It seems to me the smaller rounds would be better, but maybe they just need to be loaded down a few notches so the hign velocity doesn't punch the hole all the way through? I also see in my Midway book here that Berger makes a 30 grainer...

Re: Cold Coyote Calling - Advise Please

I've had good luck using a diaphram call that is impossible to freeze up because its inside your mouth the whole time. As for when nature calls, my coyote calling sessions aren't usually more than 15 to 20 minutes, so its not usually an issue. But if you gotta go, my theory is that any canine is goi...
