Re: Ducks!

Guy, Looks like a memorable hunt! Late season birds are always a lot of fun. We hunted our last duck hunt before freeze up on November 11th. I'm jealous of the long seasons most other places get. Sometimes we freeze up before the end of October! Will you get any more chances to go out or are you al...

Re: Me and Robert

The rifle is nothin special.. 12 twist Remington 700 sps chambered in .204 ruger. The stock is a Bell & Carlson. The scope is a 4-16x50mm Monarch. The medium mounts keep it nice and low. As for the handloads, the 35 grain Berger HPs are propelled by 30.6 grains of BLC-2. I've struggled with the ...

Me and Robert

Hello all, Well I finally killed my first bobcat after many attempts over the past few years. It wasn't too terribly exciting, but special none the less. To make a long story short, I didn't even make it to my calling spot when I spotted the cat sitting, like a dog, in the middle of the small frozen...

Re: Info on FH/FNH pistols

acloco, unfortunately, I have no first hand experience with the FN pistol, although I have lots of first-person perspective video game experience with the FN in 5.7mm :P . You're not considering the 5.7 round? I've heard its a fine pistol and that round just seems too cool. I guess that's the same r...

Very cool pic! That's gotta be a rare find for a balistic tipped bullet. Nice recovery!

Re: First blood on the Dtech

Baba, I have the same predicament hunting predators up here. The fox numbers are definitely on the rise, but it would be nice to see more. I still haven't had a chance to kill a fox with the .204, but I will definitely be using the 35 grainers when I do. The last fox I shot was with a 6mm Rem and a ...

This should help. When I bought my new .204 I spent an hour or two on this thread:

7 pages long with lots of good info.

Re: HUSKEMAW OPTIC

You certainly don't have to pay extra for a good target turret. Huskema simply puts the yardage directly onto the turret. With basic balistics software you can calculate this stuff out yourself. See this older thread: http://www.204ruger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5067&p=39855&hilit=t...

Re: Bullet Pictures

Great pictures and some nice work! You would do good work for a forensics lab. :) I've wondered about using those VLD Bergers on deer. It looks like they bring the deer down fast though? Berger advertises that the bullets "shed between 40% and 85%" which appears in you photo. Cool stuff. A...

Re: Full length vs neck sizing

SI, I've always been told to only neck-size brass if it will be fired from the same bolt action rifle that just shot it. Like OT said, autos require full length resizing every time, so it depends on what gun you're reloading for. Neck sizing for bolt actions allows that brass which has taken the sha...

Re: 700 sps rem 204

A friend of mine had this problem with an M700 SPS in .17 fireball. He found tool marks in the end of the barrel from when they cut the crown. Remington replaced the barrel for him. This might not be your problem though. Like WP99 said, you could have some poor pressure points between your barrel an...
