Re: Leupold V-X II

The B&L scopes you are speaking of, they are the Bushnell Elite series correct?

Leupold V-X II

Any opinions on this scope. I have a Nikon Monarch on my rifle now but I stole this from another rifle in my safe. I will be getting a new one for my 204 and was looking at the Leupold V-X II ,6-18X40 with the Long Range Duplex Varmint reticle. Any thoughts, opinions or ideas. I looked at the Bushne...

Re: Primer Sealer

Thanks folks, I probably should have mentioned this was not for my 204. This was for my 30-06. Thanks for the info.

Primer Sealer

Does anyone use primer sealer? I was told before that nail polish works just as well but I have also been told it is not needed at all. Just curious what the consensus is?

Re: The 204 takes one off of the deck

Gube nice looking dog. You have no idea how lucky you are being where you are, or maybe you do :chin: I can only dream of being able to "Take one off of the deck" Considering that you have killed yotes with both, BK's and Bergers, you would reccomend Bergers I guess? Ever have a Berger spl...

Re: First One... I'm Hooked

Gube, I gotta agree. The real nice thing is they try to hunt with me during hte reagular season here but it is often to cold and I don't want to give them a bad taste about hunting. This is nice, it's warm typically a decent amount of game and so on. It was a good day.

Re: First One... I'm Hooked

Rick, I was thinking of going to the patent office with my original bipod. It doubles as a sleeping bag. I don't think there is another like it.

First One... I'm Hooked

Well we went out today. It was a Saturday and I was off. The weather yesterday was supposed to be partly sunny. That seemed to be the only part that was not out. Anyway, yesterday was a bust. I told the boys, I have two sons, 8 and 6, that we would go this morning. Supposed to be sunny and warm. Wel...

Re: Bipods

Giterdon, thanks for the reply, I was thinking around 300 yards would be my furthest for now anyway. I have a 6mm, also if the need for longer shots presented. The guy who farms these farms really wants them gone. They are causing much problems. The reason I chose a 204 to begin with was for the sma...

Groundhog Shooting Distance

What would you folks say is the maximum distance for the 204 on Eastern Ground hogs. As big as 9- 10 pounds. I realize shooting long distance takes practice etc. but all things being equal how far would you say the maximum range would be. I shoot the 35 grain bergers. Would 400 yards be on the long ...

Re: Bipods

Thanks. I am being swayed to the 9-13". I was just on the Harris web site. They talk about different mounting screws for different stocks. I am using the Savage VPL with the wood laminate stock. Will it mount right to it or do I have to by an accessory?

Bipods

I know there have been posts on this in the past but I was unable to find the answers I was looking for. I am new at the varmint hunting, been hunting other critters all my life but the short to medium range varminting is new. Kinda cool too  Anyway, I am looking for a bipod and will be getting...

Re: Powder Preference

Welcome to the 204um. As I am sure you are aware every rifle will make it's own choice as to the load it prefers. I am shooting a stock Savage VLP using 26. Grains of Benchmark and 35 Grain Bergers. This is my most accurate load. I can stay in the .4s and have the occasional .3 and .2 groups. I had ...

Re: Free Floating

Below I pasted video on how to free float the stock. I have found in the past that a piece of sandpaper around a dowel has worked well. I am not sure what you mean when you said it is not so much a free floating situation". I would guess you are saying the barrel is still making contact with th...
