Re: I need some group diagnostic help

surfclod is on the right track with his recommendations. I would sort the cases by weight after fully prepping them. Also if you want to go further, sort your bullets for uniform base to ogive length. I had a similar problem and it was corrected by outside neck turning and using bushing dies.

Re: Need info primers backing out!

For info only......Most of the time I use a Redding "Competition Bushing Neck sizing die" because I dont want to use a die that pulls an "expander" thru the neck to bring it back to size. I also use a Forster "Bushing-Bump die" if I need to bring the headspace back wher...

Re: Need info primers backing out!

Frank.... Chamber dimensions can and do vary, thats why most reloaders do not "initially" screw their die in to touch the shell holder. If the chamber was cut on the deep side by the factory the shoulder could be pushed back enough to create an excessive headspace condition by bumping the ...

Re: Reloading Equipment

Joker....People neck turn their cases for the same reason that they sort them by weight and use a bullet comparator, concentricity gauge and other tools. Aside from all the rifle prepping we do, WHY do we do it? I dont shoot in benchrest matches, but I like tiny groups. Some fliers result from a lac...

Powder availability

FYI..... Natchez has RL-10X $19.99 for 1lb. and $89.99 for 5lb. in stock plus $22.50 haz. mat. plus delivery charges. Also one supplier told me they wont be getting any primer deliveries from their sources until middle of 2010. Thats right ......the middle of next year! :wall:

Re: 35 Berger

No problem with the 25.1gr. of RL-10X with the 40gr. Bergers. I agree that the Berger recommended loads are conservative. I did use Hornady brass though, WW brass may produce higher/lower pressures, as I have not checked the internal volume difference (weight of water to base of neck) between the tw...

Re: 35 Berger

The temperature finally reached the upper 60's the other day so I chronographed some .204 loads in my Savage 12VLP. FYI...... 35 gr. Berger 28gr. H4895 powder 7 1/2BR primer W.W. Brass O.A.L. 2.260 Oehler 35P chrono. posted 3954fps 10 ft. from muzzle (total average). Second load..... 40gr. Berger 25...

Re: savage model 25

FYI.....The Savage M25 barrel "is installed within the receiver by Savage's unique hand-swaging method, which establishes very close headspace to aid in accuracy" from the sept/oct 2008 RifleShooter page 69. Looks like its not threaded.

Re: cci br-4's ?

Hey guys, I was just wondering, I could'nt get anymore of those BR-4's last night, the guy was sold out, but he had quite a few CCI 450 magnums left. Just from checking out the site here this morning it looks like that if you use a harder to ignite powder like 748, or BLc-2 that you might get prett...

Re: New Brass

Venison-Burger.....It should not make any difference if the brass is new or fireformed; if the same lot & brand of case, primer, powder charge, bullet and weights are similar; in addition to seating depth. IMHO...The deciding factor is internal chamber dimension, as the brass case will expand ag...

Re: cci br-4's ?

First choice Federal 205M second choice Rem 7 1/2 third choice CCI BR-4 and forth choice would be CCI-450 and very last choice is WSR primers as they have thinner cups. If I were you I would run back tyhere and buy any of the above as much as you can afford because I was told from a friend in Missou...

Re: Keyhole help!?!?

I had a keyholing problem also with a T/C Encore SS in .204 Ruger and narrowed it down to excessive neck tension. Some neck dies (and full length dies also) are sizing the necks down excessively; expanders dont always correct the problem. The results are the bullet gets damaged when seated. That is ...
