Re: do you clean between load tests
I fire one (1) fouling shot thru a clean barrel, then fire a 5 shot group. I let the barrel cool for a few minutes, then fire another 5 shot group with the SAME load. I then clean the bore (Bore Tech Eliminator) and follow with a patch dampened with "Lock-Ease" (colloidal graphite) and let...

Re: new rifle
I own a Weatherby Vangard in .223 and it had the worse trigger I ever tried to shoot with. So I replaced it with a Timney trigger :D and then replaced the synthetic stock with a Bell & Carlson tactical style stock with the aluminum bedding block. A little fitting by the rear bolt shroud finally ...

Re: Is there any way to tell the difference between...
You can weigh the loaded rounds one at a time (the difference being 8 grains; BUT the 32gr. load uses 31.1grs. of factory ball powder and the 40 gr. uses 29.3grs of the same powder so now you have a 6 grain difference (approximately) instead of a 8gr. difference. Then there is the slight difference ...

Re: Do you use a different load for different distances?
RIO....Do you zero your Sako's (rifle) dials @ 100yds. (Elevation) and then use your come up table? Do you recommend using Leupold Custom Bullet Drop Compensation Dials? What are your thoughts on zeroing at 300yds (with the 39BK) and use the "Point Blank Range" system? It should work thru ...

Carbon Ring in barrel
Not to long ago I read that a carbon ring can develop in a barrel from using RL-10X. I have read that some shooters have found this powder (RL-10X) to burn somewhat dirty in some barrels. Is this the powder mentioned, that causes this carbon ring to develop? I understand that if you catch it early (...

Small Rifle Primers
FYI......Cabelas in Omaha Neb. just got a shipment of Remington 7 1/2BR primers. At least 9 sleeves of 5,000 per sleeve. A friend called me an hour ago and said he walked in and they were all excited about getting the primers. No large rifle but some pistol primers too. They also have IMR 4064 if an...
