Re: Loooong Report on 8-30-2009 PD Hunt--EXTREMELY Graphic Pics!
Silverfox.....Unbelieveable pictures and write up. Really enjoyed the close-ups. Been thinking about a .17 for a while now. What kind of stock is on your .17? Makes me remember the time's spent with my son thru the years before he relocated miles away. A bad day hunting is better than a good day at ...

Melvin......Felt like I was there...nice looking yote. That 39gr. Sierra BK held together just fine. No surface splash at all. Just DRT.

Re: New Savage 12LRPV in .204 Ruger
I downloaded the "barrel break-in" from the Savage web-site. Interesting, that Shilen recommends ...Clean after each shot for the first 5 shots. The remainder of the break-in is to clean every 5 shots for the next 50.

Re: New Cooper
If I could afford a "Cooper" it would be in my gun safe all ready. They do shoot extremely well. At our range "Cooper" rules the "varmint BR class" and if the shooter does his part of the job (reloading and shooting skills) the rifle wont let him down. Nice rifle, nice ...

New Savage 12LRPV in .204 Ruger
She aint pretty but boy can she cook....Kinda sums it up about Savage rifles vs some of the other "gorgeous looking and feeling" rifles; kinda like the lady and the tramp. Been using Savage barrel break-in procedures. Fire 1 and clean for first 10 shots, then fire 3 and clean for five repe...

source for WS2 Tungsten Disulphide
Guy's....Tru-kote.com no longer sells WS2 and I hear that wrzwaldo sold it in the past, but I cant seem to get the info as to if he still sells it and how to order it? I could order it from a Canadian source but the smallest quantity is one pound and that will coat 240,000 bullets. I doubt I will li...

Bullet coatings
Where can you buy the various bullet coatings? I remember seeing a web-site that had WS2 and other coatings you could order on line or phone in a order?

Re: Varmint Hunter #72 Article
Rick....I thought your article in VH was great. Only wish we had that kind of "Skippy" shooting here in Illinois. Years ago, I had lot's of fun shooting on a farm that had tons of gophers (13 line ground squirrels) on it, but urban sprawl eventually put a damper on that. I look forward to ...

Re: UUUURRRRGGGHHHH!
Melvin..... When people ask me why do I need more than one gun? I usually reply ......Why does a person who golfs need more than one club? Or why does a fisherman need more than one fishing pole/rod? Although most folks dont really understand..... its not need...... its want. Kinda like when youre i...

Re: Sinclair Bore Guides
I had a bore-guide problem with one of my rifles, so Sinclair suggested I measure the inside of the action. They sent me one that fit so perfectly that a person would think it was custom made. I have a half dozen or more and the add-on (push in) solvent ports and I agree with RIO Sinclair is a first...

Re: Fluting a barrel
RIO..Thanks for your input; guess all you can do is hope the person doing the fluting is doing it properly as you say. Fluted barrels "look cool" and I often wonder how the "spiral fluted" barrels shoot. I have never seen an article that compares a rifles accuracy both before and...

Re: Todays Target
Seeing is believing...that was a great group. I also use WW brass but I trim to 1.842 and spec is 1.840-1.850 so I try to stay just above the trim to length. Been using mostly Rem. 7 1/2BR primers and a lot of RL10X with 39gr. BK. Now that the 12LRPV showed up, I have another new barrel to break in....

Fluting a barrel
"If you have a Shilen barrel fluted, the warranty is void." Do other barrel makers still guaranty their "fluted" barrels? My new 12LRPV came today sans fluted barrel. I think im happy it came that way?
