Re: remington 700 vtr .204 recoil
i own a 700 VTR and it is by far my favorite gun. the recoil is nothing. im able to keep my eye on the glass the whole time. and for those longer shots you'll be able to see impact and even vapor trail sometimes.

SUCCESS! .204 ruger on a deer. [pictures]
Rifle season started yesterday up here in northern idaho so i went for an afternoon hunt today with a buddy of mine. Got out to our spot at 2:45pm and watched some clear cuts for awhile. Around 4:45 we started to make the journey back to our rig. walking the trail back, my friend spots a "long ...

Re: .204 ruger on a deer?
sorry i know this is a late post, but if you refer to the thread i started in the 204ruger section i have related a story about culling deer and pigs. it is effective on deer sized game, but i recommend the 45gr bullets if you want complete penetration. did you take a deer with your 204? Surely sti...

Re: .204 ruger on a deer?
Is there available cover to build a brush blind to cut the range down? 300yds is a long way. I've had groundhogs crawl 10yds with chest shots at that range with the 39gr BK's. Also be careful of riccochets. not so much. it is open field on one side and then a drop off into the canyon on the other. ...

Re: .204 ruger on a deer?
I'm liking this idea...gotta be remembered for something right? ha.hoegebear wrote:red two, maybe you can be the first to take a cape buffalo with a .204 ruger??
And about my .30-06, i'm not saying it is worthless. I've killed all my other deer with this gun. But when compared to the .204 it seems that way.

Re: .204 ruger on a deer?
Normally, i use a .30-06 for deer. It seems tho, that the deer always hang up 200-300 yards out. I mainly hunt in fields that border a canyon, so in the afternoon all the deer come up to munch on the grain. Seeing as how my .30-06 is a POS hand-me-down i have doubts about taking an animal that far. ...

.204 ruger on a deer?
has anyone tried to kill a deer with the .204? I am shooting 40 grain hornady v-max. I am going deer hunting tomorrow morning and i am curious to see if anybody has successfully killed a deer with this cartridge. Im not thinking a lung shot, but more of a neck shot. any input?

.204 suppressor?
curious if anybody knows if there is a suppressor out there that would suit the .204 ruger? if so, does anybody know the process of obtaining one? also, i shoot the remmy model 700 VTR, which means the triangular barrel. would this even be possible? any info welcome, thanks.

Re: nailed a coyote friday may 8th (pictures)
i shot this coyote about 50 miles from where i live in northern Idaho. it was my understanding that the muzzle brake is to reduce recoil. seeing as how the .204 has minimal kick, i find it of no real use. i almost find it annoying, especially when it is raining or snowing. i try to avoid that stuff ...
