Re: 11/18/10 Deer

Dave,

I was hoping no one would notice the rope marks on the deer's neck where we had him tied up but you just had to bring it up :). Come back anytime and bring the family again.

11/18/10 Deer

Last Thursday (the 18th) afternoon I went out bow hunting for one last time before the first firearms season opened on Friday to see if I could score on a deer. My son Lucas, and I haven’t been seeing many deer this season or this past summer. We’ve talked to other hunters and they hav...

Re: Three Dog Day

Odawgpw/204,

Congratulations on the coyotes. As S.F. said, awesome country you have there. Sure looks different than corn and bean fields here.

Re: 11-18-10

Clint,
I don't see your deer tag on the coyote? :) You do know that a doe is bigger than a coyote and doesn't have as long or bushy tail and they do taste better . I guess a coyote would be easier to drag back to the truck!

Re: 11/17/10 coyote

I'm thinking the coyote just got used to a vehicle in the area. The farmer has been cutting brush back around his fields almost daily for the past 3+ weeks so it may have gotten used to it.

11/17/10 coyote

This morning I went out bow hunting and only saw one deer, an average 8 pointer that never came close enough. After about two hours in the stand, I got down and went back to the truck and cased my bow. I had put a ladder in my truck this morning before I left home to leave out at an old barn since I...

S.F.

Nice write up on your hunt, thanks for sharing some N. Decolder pictures of the snow but you can keep it up there for a while longer!

That coyote looks BIG.
The kids look pretty proud of dad's coyote. Enjoy the moment with them.

11/6/10 Coyotes

A week ago yesterday, Friday the 5th, my son Lucas had shot a doe with his bow about an hour before sun set and let her have time to expire before looking for her. He called me about an hour and a half later to bring out the lights and help him track her and drag her out of the woods. Well, we found...

huntsman22 and RIO, Shooting a cat is Democratic, like Pelosi said, "you have to vote on it to see what's in it". Well, you've got to shoot it to give it a breathalyzer to test for quail breathe, don't ya? I had a 4 " Huntsman I traded several years ago and have regretted it ever sin...

Re: Who Needs a 26" Barrel?

I don't know if it's true or not, but I read an article several years ago and the author of it said the extra lenght (26" barrel) was not for velocity but to keep the bullet in the barrel longer to make it stabilize better than the shorter barrels. He also said that anything longer than 26"...

Alright on the coyote! I see you broke out the 22-250 for this one. Those BDL's are still a fine looking gun.

Re: The cows and I team up.......

Keith in Ga, I didn't do any calling. I didn't want to get Black Angus cows upset with me in the middle of them. I tried calling this location last year by placing my Foxpro in some brush along the ditch and called in the cows so I wasn't going to try that this time. If the cows would have been on ...

The cows and I team up.......

Yesterday morning I went out to a pasture that over looks a big creek bottom because the places I really wanted to go still had crops in the field. I got out there just as the first thought of light was on the horizon and headed down to the pasture. As I walked out toward the hill I wanted to sit on...
